By this deícription, you will find,
we have paffed five towers and eleven
gates before we enter the center of
the caftle. I have been the more ex-
plicit, in order to give the ingenious
reader an idea of the Mooriíh manner
of fortification. The ufe of fire-arms
has entirely changed the whole theory
of the art of defence; but ítill it is
curious and pleaíing, to fee the pains
and care the Arabians took in fortify-r
ing their caftles, and to contémplate
the monuments of a nation that is
now no more.
