Billy Tarver (2004)
In memory of a very special person - Billy Tarver from Wills Point. Our fall sale was the first 7P Sale for Billy to miss. I
met Billy Tarver in 1973 and he helped me by hauling cattle initially. He exemplified all the traits I look for in a man - honesty,
reliability, friendliness and knowledge. I loved Billy Tarver and spent many hours picking his brain. He always had
others best interest at heart.
He was a long-time fire fighter in the metroplex and took his time off to haul cattle. He became so much more to all of us
who had the opportunity to know him. Ask any ‘old’ breeder about Billy and I will bet the above will sound like a broken
record. He passed away in 2004 and will always be missed by his many friends.
Jesse Earl Sealey (2005)
Jesse Earl (J.E.) was born in Fairplay, Texas and lived his entire life within 2 miles of his birthplace. A graduate of
Beckville High School he tried several occupations from truck driving to the oil field, but always returned home to help
with the cattle and farm.
J.E. and Jo were married for 33 years and shared a love of cattle and the outdoors. Starting with a few acres and about
30 head, they built a ranch of over 1700 acres and 450 head of cattle. Those who knew him best, knew his heart was on
his farm with family.
J.E. was a good judge of cattle and many times was the volume buyer at our sales. The Sealeys have been good supporters
of 7P sales for more than 25 years. He supported the cattle industry and will be sorely missed. Jo will continue
the business.
Barron A. Florence (2006)
Barron Florence was born in Henry’s Chapel Community of Cherokee County on the family home place where he continued
to live for the remainder of his life. His wife, Mary, of 59 years and son, Larry and wife Cherie, grand children and
great grand children share his love of the land and cattle. Theirs is a family business with everyone helping out.
Barron was a very smart cattleman, utilizing the information gleaned from Texas A&M Extension Service in Overton
about winter pastures. He weaned 700 lb. calves and made money. He told me after one of the bad bull sales in the 80’s
that he knew we had more money in our bulls than we were getting out of them, but encouraged me to hold on. He
always bought the top bulls and he made it work. He was a good man and good friend.
He has been a leader in the cattle industry for a very long time. He has recieved many agricultural awards and served on
ag related boards as well as Carlyle school board.
