MAHALO NUI LOA TO THE TAMASHIROS OF
RICHARD’S SHOPPING CENTER
For 60 years, this landmark store started in 1946 by Richard & Shizuko Tamashiro has served the needs of
the Lana’i community. Their children Wallace, Robert (Bobby), Colin and Carol grew up working at the
store. Carol currently resides in Nevada with her husband Richard Nunotani. When Richard Tamashiro retired,
eldest son Wallace (or Wally as everyone calls him) managed the store with the aid of Bobby and Colin.
Throughout all the years, the Tamashiros have been totally and commendably supportive of the community, school,
and LACA. Mahalo nui loa to Wallace and the entire Tamashiro family for all the support, encouragement, financial
contributions, and loyalty you have given us. Richard’s Shopping Center closed on Saturday, January 28, 2006.
