Sadly, many Muslims bicker over an aspect th<strong>at</strong> the religion has already sett led for them. Allaah’s Final Revel<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
to Muhammad ordered all of them to, with regards to the Hilal in specifi c, rely on wh<strong>at</strong> Imam Ibn Taimiyyah<br />
called a ‘Universal Sign’ th<strong>at</strong> they all can witness, whether they were in the desert or in the city, the lett ered and<br />
the unlett ered, so th<strong>at</strong> they start their month and have their celebr<strong>at</strong>ions all together. Meanwhile, many Muslims<br />
ignore the major aspects of Islaam, such as learning and practicing the pillars of Faith and the pillars of Islaam.<br />
Wh<strong>at</strong> was meant for them to be a wonderful experience th<strong>at</strong> they all can share regardless of the loc<strong>at</strong>ion and degree<br />
of educ<strong>at</strong>ion, they take away from the eye and give it to those who use astronomical calcul<strong>at</strong>ions. Wh<strong>at</strong> happened<br />
to the Prophet’s specifi c instruction to not use `Hisab? Just add it to the ever growing list of consistent defi ance of<br />
the Sunnah th<strong>at</strong> Allaah revealed to His Prophet .<br />
One should ask himself this question: when the Prophet , said this Hadeeth about `Hisab, this being a m<strong>at</strong>t er of<br />
the religion, did not Allaah know th<strong>at</strong> in the future, mankind will be able to see the moon around the clock using<br />
instruments? Still, Allaah revealed this clear, plain Hadeeth wherein the m<strong>at</strong>t er of the Hilal is entrusted to the<br />
eye, not made a monopoly between the educ<strong>at</strong>ed. Finally, if one reads the horrifi c diff erences between those who<br />
calcul<strong>at</strong>e just about this <strong>com</strong>ing Ramadan, one will further know the error of the `Hisab method. Just <strong>com</strong>pare the<br />
various calendars they use and the decision issued by various ‘Astronomical Societies’ about when the new moon<br />
will be born. May Allaah save us from error and make us among those who follow Muhammad in all th<strong>at</strong><br />
Allaah has revealed to him, without exception.<br />
