scores in floor exercise, 9.650, and in vault,
9.450.
Northfield was led by a senior, Meaghan
Howell, and a ninth-grader Bailey DuPay.
Howell scored a 9.70 on balance beam toward
the team’s 36.50, and a 9.475 on vault toward the
team’s 37.625. Sophomore Abby Stets equaled
Howell’s 9.475 on vault. DuPay posted a 9.65 in
floor exercise en route to the team’s total of
37.60. DuPay also earned the highest score of the
meet for any gymnast on any event — a 9.80 on
bars. The Raiders’ team score on bars was 37.425.
St. Cloud Tech’s high scorers were juniors
Mariah Miller and Taylor Pick. Miller earned
scores of 9.475 on beam, 9.675 on bars, and 9.70
on vault. Pick scored a 9.40 in floor exercise.
The Tigers’ team vault score, 37.80, was the
meet’s highest.
Junior Kasondra Tulloch led the Park
Wolfpack to a fourth-place finish with a score of
147.30. Tulloch earned the team’s top scores on
floor (9.725), bars (9.75), and vault (9.625).
In the individual meet, senior Julia Stedman
from North won the all-around competition
which featured a deep field of gymnasts in contention
for the title through the final event.
Stedman, who finished with an all-around score
of 38.40, improved on a 2011 fourth-place finish.
Senior Mackenzie Dent of Eden Prairie fin-
ished second in all-around at 38.275, and ninthgrader
Bailey DuPay of Northfield finished third
with a 38.250.
Stedman’s first event was uneven bars. Her
score of 9.475, just 12th overall in the event,
removed her from early consideration for the allaround
title. She would need to close the gap in
her final three events to put herself in the hunt
for the all-around title. Stedman’s second event
was beam, an event most gymnasts are happy to
“get out of the way” early in the competition.
She posted a solid score of 9.525, which would
have been high enough to earn an individual
medal but she had not qualified for the
individual beam competition. Her all-around
score after two events, 19.00, was still not
among the meet’s highest.
Stedman scored a respectable 9.675 in floor
exercise. Entering the final rotation, there was
an unusually high number of gymnasts who were
still contending for the all-around title.
Stedman scored a 9.725 on her first vault, but
had to wait until the end of the rotation before
knowing it would be enough for the win.
Individual event titles were spread among
three gymnasts. East Ridge of Woodbury senior
Leah Robinette captured the vault championship
with her 9.825. Robinette was fourth in

Dent won both bars and floor honors. Her winning
scores were 9.750 on bars and 9.725 on
floor. Dent also medaled in floor exercise in
2011, placing fourth. Roseville Area sophomore
Katie Quigley took home the balance beam title
with a score of 9.550, edging out her closest
competitor by 0.025.
The 2012 State Girls’ Gymnastics Meet was
conducted February 24 and 25 at the Sports
Pavilion on the University of Minnesota campus
in Minneapolis. Paid attendance for the meet
was 6,168.
