FACULTY NEWS Our department organized one week national level workshop on ‘MEMS Technology and simulation practices‘ during 14-19 November, 2011. Staff and students of various engineering colleges attended this workshop. Prof. Mrs. Anagha Panditrao received Cummins appreciation award in August 2011 for international journal publications and patent. Prof. Mrs. Anagha Panditrao presented paper in IEEE International Conference at Bandung, Indonesia in November 2011. Prof. Mrs. Anagha Panditrao was awarded with PhD degree of University of Pune under the guidance of Dr. Mrs. Priti Rege of Govt. College of Engg. Pune. Prof. Y. G. Adhav attended Sixth International conference on smart materials, structures and system (ISSS-2012) at IISC Bangalore during 4-7 th January, 2012 Prof. A. D. Gaikwad delivered progress report of Cummins MEMS R &D Centre Pune at IISC Banglore on 28 th Feb.2012 in NMDC review meeting. Prof. J. P. Gawande delivered a lecture on ‘Digital Filters’ at National Workshop on ‘Matlab and its applications’ organized by PDEA’ College of Engineering, Manjari, Pune. Prof. J. P. Gawande also delivered a lecture on ‘Fiber Optics’ to second year students of department of Instrumentation, VIT, Pune. Prof. J. P. Gawande had worked as Judge for the National Level Technical Paper Presentation Competition, Futurizm’12, organized by PDEA’ College of Engineering, Manjari, Pune. A paper on ‘Integrated Sensor System Framework for Enhanced Vehicle Safety’ authored by Prof. A.K. Joshi and KPIT Cummins staff is published in SAE International journal in July 2011. K. Ogale Memorial Prize’ for securing highest number of marks and standing First at the S.E.(Instrumentation) Examination held in May,2010. Best Outgoing student Ms. Divya Vasudev was awarded as best out going student of the department for her all round performance during the year 2011-12. Heartiest Congratulations to all of them!
Extracurricular Competitions Ms. Aishwarya Chaporkar participated in Indian Student Parliament-2012 at MAEER’s MIT School of Government, Pune. Ms. Shivani Matto won the second prize at Environmental Quiz. Ms. Ashwini Shetty won the Judges Choice Award at National Entrepreneurship Network. Ms. Tanvi Shah won the Viewer’s Choice Award at National Entrepreneurship Network. Ms. Akshika Khachroo and Ms. Ruddhi Kadam represented the college at ROBOCON 2012. MS. Ruchi Gupta and her football team won the second prize at ZEST 2012, COEP. Ms. Swarada Kshirsagar and Ms. Sanskriti Shankare won the first prize at Pune City Zone Intercollegiate Sports (Basketball) organized by University of Pune. Ms. Chaitra Kanhere won the first prizes at various swimming sport events like Pentacle’12, Melange’12, VIT Pune. Ms. Rutuja Mhetre and her Volleyball team won the first prize at ZEST 2012 and PACE’12. Ms. Azba Sardar, Ms. Divya Vasudev, Ms. Devika Oka, Ms. Ritika Shetty won the second prize at Theme projects, INNOVATION 2k12. Ms. Neha Mutha, Ms. Gauri Gaikwad, Ms. Aditi Agarwal won the second prize for their project on ‘Colour Transmitter: An Application for Paper Industry’ at Firmware Project Competition, INNOVATION 2k12. Ms. Azba Sardar and Ms. Divya Vasudev won the first prize at On the Spot, INNOVATION 2k12. Ms. Shivanjali Patil and Ms. Mrunal Mone participated in the project competition on Data Acquisition System at ‘Technotrend-2011’ organized by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere. Paper/Project Presentations Our M.E. student, Ms. Rajashree Pimputkar won the first prize for her paper on ‘MRI segmentation using fuzzy c –means algorithm’ at National Level Paper Presentation, Futurizm’12, organized by PDEA’ College of Engineering, Manjari, Pune. Ms. Prachi Mantri, Mrs. Archana Kesti, Mrs. Smitha Pinto and Ms. Megha Deshmukh (M.E. students) presented their paper at National Level Paper Presentation, Futurizm’12, organized by PDEA’ College of Engineering, Manjari, Pune. Mrs. Aarti Suryawanshi presented a paper on ‘Urine Flow Rate Measurement Based on Volumetric Pressure measurement’ at ISPTS- 1 International Syposium on Physics and Technology of Sensors, organized by University of Pune. Ms. Rutuja Laulkar, Mrs. Aarti Suryawanshi and Mrs. Smitha Pinto presented papers at National Conference on ‘Nanotechnology and its Applications in Electronics Engineering’ CSIR, IETE, organized by AISSMS’ IOIT Pune. Ms. Megha Deshmukh presented a paper titled ‘Design & Development of Thermistor Based Sensor for Spirometry’ at IEEE Students Conference, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal. Ms. Krishali Penta and Ms. Disha Waghela won the first prize for the paper on ‘Bionic Eye’ at INNOVATION 2k12. Ms. Priti Bora won the second prize for paper ‘Exoskeleton for Human Performance Augmentation-Passive Design’ at INNOVATION 2k12.
