San Miguel has a wide variety of sites which you can visit on the weekends even to his<br />

days of weeks also has its plate El Cuco attractive as its wonderful cathedral where all<br />

Catholics migueleños visit.<br />

meet, where we can see different islands,<br />

migratory birds and the warmth of the<br />

people that opens its doors for this<br />

natural that only this city can offer.<br />

are constant, providing peace and security for all residents and tourists in the area.<br />

Puerto El Triunfo.<br />

Located in Usultan deparment of El Salvador it has 60% of salty water, the area<br />

includes the Bay of Jiquilisco, in which lie the islands of Espiritu Santo, Madresal,<br />

Peninsula and San Juan del Gozo Corral de Mulas.<br />

The people of Puerto El Triunfo are engaged in agricultural activities such as the<br />

production of coconut, grains, fruits, sugar cane and livestock, due to they remain on<br />

the sea they are engaged in fishing and shellfish extraction well known as curiles;<br />

between commercial activities have retail shops and a wide variety of stalls selling fish<br />

product…<br />

The Malecon is the tourist area of the city, from this place has a beautiful view of the<br />

woods salty "mangroves", you can also take a short walk in the old docks or take a trip<br />

by boat to the various islands or restaurants floating on the beach..<br />

A beautiful architectural structure of the city is the Church of Our Lady of Fatima, its<br />

facade is old but its interiors, the main altar, ceiling and floors are quite modern,<br />

Puerto El Triunfo festivity celebrates 10 to May 23 in honor of the same patron saint,<br />

Our Lady of Fatima. Another important festival is the Fisherman's Feast, held on<br />

October 24 in honor of St. Raphael the Archangel, in which it takes a journey with the<br />

image of the employer by the waters of the bay, which bind many boats in procession.<br />

To get to Puerto El Triunfo you can do it for the Coastal Highway, before reaching<br />

Usulután which is located on the left, to get access to this city, you must pass before<br />

Jiquilisco, the road is in good condition.<br />

Visit Puerto El Triunfo in the Department of Usulután, take a boat trip to the islands,<br />

enjoy its seafood and other delicious dishes, sightseeing in its area of fisheries of the<br />

department of Usulután…<br />

Should be noted that until now the Malecon of Puerto El Triunfo is the winner of<br />

Pueblos Vivos....<br />

He is Mr. Nelson Rodriguez, He lives in the city of<br />

Usulután, and during his childhood was working<br />

with his father; he went to work in neighboring<br />

municipalities: Berlin, Santiago De Maria, Santa<br />

Elena.....<br />

During the past 33 years has been devoted exclusively to work as a watchmaker and<br />

since 11 years ago works with the local city hall, to give worth to report local clock<br />

repair and clock since this presents no problem<br />

He is full of satisfaction, very happy and happy to be commissioned to mark the time<br />

every day.He thinks that apart from being an honest job, that is the work that makes<br />

me proud because that is how he has brought up her children, all the days he starts at<br />

5:00 AM and gives maintenance to the clock. Nelson Rodriguez is a hardworking<br />

man. It is because of him that we all hear the melody “Usulutecos” local clock every 15<br />

mints through their bells.<br />

SAN JOSE DE LA FUENTE.<br />

San Jose de la Fuente is a village located in the east part of the country of La Unión<br />

Department; this village has an extention of 45,16 km 2 and was founded in 1874 as a<br />

town and became in a village in 1955, on March 15 to 20 and November 25 to 26 are<br />

the festivities.<br />

San José de la Fuente has become an attractive place around the country year by year,<br />

this place is so far of the city noise, and the weather is always great, it is a quiet place<br />

to enjoy the landscape walking by the streets or relax whit your family or friends at<br />

the central park eating the well-known pupusas.<br />

One of the attractive place is the “The historical natural park in Honor to the Capitan<br />

Guillermo Reinaldo Cortéz” this park was founded in the honor of the Captain Cortéz,<br />

the folklore said that he was fighting the war called “La Guerra de las Cien Horas” in<br />

1969 against Honduras, he destroyed the Toncontin Airport and then, he was<br />

ambushed by enemies who followed and reached him at El Amatillo border, they shot<br />

and damaged the plane; he was injured and had the opportunity to save his life<br />

jumping in a parachute, but he thought of the people who live at the town, and the plane<br />

was falling over the village, he made a movement avoiding crush on the village. After<br />

that, he became as a national hero and every year is celebrated in July 16th in a civic<br />

day and died defending our country.<br />

Another attraction is “El museo de antigüedades” located on the town’s first house. The<br />

museum owner is Mario Alfredo Cruz; He has so many antiques objects dating from<br />

18th century. He has collected the antiques around the country and beyond, and now<br />

he offers the opportunity to visit and enjoy the things that are there. San José has also<br />

“El mirador del Cerro de la Cruz” the people who visit this place can go and enjoy<br />

taking a walk to visit “El mirador” that is not so far from the town it’s just take 45<br />

minutes to go there and have a great view to the islands Meanguera and Conchagüita<br />

and others cities around.<br />

In a recent event of “Pueblos Vivos 2010”, San José de la Fuente won the 2nd place<br />

through visitors received in the commemoration day of July 16th; the teenagers were<br />

collecting votes that day and this help them to win the prize. This prize was another<br />

extra point to have more and more tourist in the village, now San José is not an<br />

unknown place. A lot of people come and enjoy the pacific and quiet style that the town<br />

San José de la Fuente is waiting for you<br />

has, and they wish to get back again.<br />

it’s a good place to visit and have fun, break<br />

The municipality covers an area of<br />

128.56 km ² and the header has an<br />

altitude of 90 meters. The festivities are<br />

celebrated in the month of August in<br />

honor of Santa Rosa de Lima. The<br />

city is one of the largest commercial<br />

centers in the eastern part of the<br />

country and its influence reaches into<br />

neighboring Honduras.<br />

This municipality is located in the<br />

department of La Union, bounded as<br />

follows: North by Anamorós, south by<br />

Bolivar and San Jose, the East by El<br />

Sauce and Pasaquina, west by Sociedad<br />

Morazán Department. This town is<br />

surrounded by numerous streams and<br />

rivers. The population is 28,986<br />

inhabitants.<br />

The municipality is divided into 8<br />

country-sides, which are: El Algodon,<br />

La Chorrera, Pasaquinita, Copetillo, Las<br />

Piñas, San Sebastian and Las Cañas.<br />

de Lima is also known for the purchase and<br />

sale of gold, which comes from the mines of<br />

San Miguel City is the capital of the department of San Miguel, located in the eastern<br />

part of the country, is only 138 km to San Salvador. San Miguel City has an<br />

extension of 593, 98 km² and was founded as a city in 1586. San Miguel City is the<br />

most populous city in El Salvador after Santa Ana, and it’s the third most important<br />

Salvadorian city.<br />

The Carnival of San Miguel<br />

San Miguel City has so many and historical infrastructures; one the most known is<br />

the Cathedral of "Nuestra Señora de la Paz"; its construction began in 1862 and was<br />

finished a century later, in 1962. Francisco Gavidia Theater is also another<br />

representative build of San Miguel<br />

City. “Parque Guzman” and Palacio<br />

Municipal also.<br />

But there is a reason because San<br />

Miguel City is well-known and is<br />

visited for many national and<br />

international tourists, and its most<br />

famous celebration is “El Carnaval de<br />

San Miguel”. This event became to<br />

San Miguel year by year as an<br />

important city in our country,<br />

promoting the tourism to El<br />

Salvador.<br />

But in 1959, the festivities were to change<br />

and took a different course, Dr. Miguel<br />

Félix Charlaix became in the Department<br />

Governor of San Miguel, who noticed the<br />

insolation by the people to the<br />

celebrations; and decided that the concerts<br />

took place in the street of the city, that<br />

was the beginning of a great celebrations<br />

that would come later. Two years after the<br />

carnival beginning, it became more<br />

international with the visit of the<br />

president of Guatemala in that time, was<br />

Miguel Ydígoras Fuentes and the five<br />

representatives beauty of each country of<br />

Central America.<br />

Year by year, the carnival has gotten<br />

more popularity to San Miguel and also<br />

to El Salvador, until becomes to “El<br />

carnival de San Miguel” in the most<br />

representative carnival in Central America. Nowadays, people from North America and<br />

around the world, come to San Miguel to enjoy the great carnival that every last<br />

Saturday of November take place in the beautiful city of San Miguel, also named “La<br />

Perla de Oriente”.<br />

The song of “El carnaval de San Miguel” was created by Paquito Palaviccini; and the<br />

most known part says: Ni pobre, ni rico, ni joven, ni viejo, ni bello, ni feo, ni chele, ni<br />

prieto, ni hembra, ni macho, ni alto, ni bajo, todo es igual en San Miguel, en Carnaval.<br />

That’s mean that does not matter where you are or where are you from, just come and<br />

have fun here in “El carnaval de San Miguel” , that it’s waiting for you, and the best<br />

is that it is Free!!!<br />

The Espino beach is located in the department of Usulután, this is one of the most<br />

beautiful beaches of El Salvador, this beach has more than 8 kms of gray sand, where<br />

tourists can walk on the sand and appreciate the beautiful view of the palm trees and<br />

luxurious cabins that it has.....<br />

by many is considered the best beach in Central America, Its main attraction is<br />

precisely that it hasa large area, is the ideal place to spend unforgettable moments<br />

where you can also practice different kinds of sports ....<br />

On this beach there are dozens of fishermen who are responsible for day to day the<br />

distribution of artisanal fisheries, they themselves do boat rides around and when time<br />

allow it. They even travel more than two hours visiting half a dozen islands, the Gulf<br />

of Fonseca and Jaquilisco Bay, among other routes.<br />

The Espino beach is a natural treasure of the country. With living creatures and it is<br />

also a resource that sustains life and economy of thousands of families across the bay.<br />

It´s attractions here are the delicious seafood, where all the tourists come to taste fishes,<br />

shrimps and rich Cocktails of Shells.<br />

The festivities take place on 14 and August 15 in honor of<br />

St. Sebastian, Currently held from 14th to August 15th.<br />

Within the program of the festivities include:<br />

bullfighting, rodeo, piñatas bankruptcy, recreational<br />

and traditional games, dance parties, burning<br />

gunpowder, football tournaments and election of the<br />

queen of the festivities.<br />

Gastronomy<br />

The most famous traditional food of the<br />

municipality is: Rice bold, enchiladas with grated<br />

cheese and black beans, banana cream, honey and<br />

coffee chilate bread. For the eve of the fairs it is a<br />

customary to give chuco snack and sweet porridge, bread<br />

and coffee.<br />

and Martyrs was<br />

founded in December<br />

1992 in the town of<br />

Perquin, Morazán, by a<br />

group of guerrillas. This<br />

place has an authentic<br />

history of the 12 years of<br />

armed conflict in El<br />

Salvador through the collection of objects, documents, images, information and<br />

testimonies of historical moments related to the civil war that lived El Salvador during<br />

the eighties.<br />

The museum is divided into five different rooms, designed to recreate the causes of war:<br />

life in the camps, international solidarity, conventional weapons and peace<br />

agreements and Radio Venceremos.<br />

Radio Venceremos.<br />

The latter is located in the place from where the radio signal transmitted guerrilla<br />

during much of the conflict. The museum also shows the remains of bombs, missiles,<br />

helicopters which killed Colonel Domingo Monterrosa Atlacatl<br />

Battalion Commander during the massacre of<br />

El Mozote, and others of the staff of the East.<br />

Cerro Perquín.<br />

Perquín The hill is 1321 meters to the top of<br />

which can be reached in about 10 minutes<br />

through the trails, appreciate the natural beauty<br />

of this mountainous area and have a<br />

panoramic view of the city and mountains<br />

surrounding Perquín. On this hill you can<br />

camp safely and administrators to provide<br />

surveillance in the area.<br />

Perquín Stream is located 25 minutes from the old<br />

town of Perquín up to the Poza del Indio, La Poza del<br />

Finado Adam and other ponols nearby. During the<br />

tour, you can appreciate a beautiful embroidered pine<br />

trail and observe the various species of flora and fauna<br />

that inhabit the area.<br />

La Playa El Cuco is one of the most visited beaches in seasons and holidays by<br />

tourists that is why it is the favorite beach of many, the refreshing wave’s ideal for<br />

surfing, is terrace. Ideal go with family and get away from the noise of the city,<br />

allows the gentle surf swimming and fishing… And its beautiful gray sand that<br />

allows sports such as beach soccer and is also characterized by deep blue sky that<br />

blanket.<br />

One of its attractions is the abundant trade, especially seafood and salty fish drying<br />

in the sun on bamboo tables rustic....<br />
