Due to the unique digital printing technique and application method this patented system 

can be adapted to any brand of Straight or Rake back stair nosing, before, during or even 

after installation. 

We can replicate photographic images and infi nite colour combinations onto the surface 

of anodised aluminium, which is then sealed. The resulting fi nish is scratch, weather and 

chemical resistant.

Flexibles 

Flexibles 

A selection of quality P.V.C. extrusions designed to provide a clean, neat solution 

for junctions where the fl oor meets the wall. Solutions are available to suit most 

applications in terms of safety, performance and aesthetics. Genesis Flexible skirting 

is a cost effective P.V.C. alternative to wood skirting, providing a low maintenance 

hygienic solution to wall base fi nishing. 

Capping Seals, Carpet Caps and Tile Caps can be used with Cove Formers as an 

alternative to a full skirting. 

Dim Strips provide a gradual edge and perfect fi nish to the raw, exposed edge of fl oor 

coverings and provide a safe transition to the sub-fl oor. 

Feather edge trims are typically used at a junction with terrazzo or stone fl oors. 

Available in P.V.C. to suit resilient fl oor coverings up to 6mm thickness.

designed for a variety of fi nishing functions, and in various depths and fi nishes. 

The range is the result of years of consultation with professional ceramic tile 

installers and designers. 

• Manufactured to the highest standards from top quality virgin P.V.C.u. 

• Internal and external corners are fi nished professionally, providing a long 

lasting protective fi nish to any ceramic installation. 

• Special fi nishes create features and dramatically enhance the installation. 

Genesis profi les signifi cantly reduce the installation time of laying ceramic – 

because the installer does not have to be so precise in cutting tiles to fi t. 

Genesis P.V.C. profi les are extruded from high quality material. 

We do not use any re-ground material in the manufacture of our P.V.C. profi les.

Expansion Joints 


The Expansion Joint profi les have been designed with application, function and aesthetics carefully thought out 

to ensure the correct profi le is used at installation stage. Available in a variety of materials Genesis provide 

expansion joints to suit ceramic tile, marble and stone. 

The selection of the correct Expansion Joint is determined by; area, traffi c and the fl oor covering. Performance 

and function are paramount when making your selection and our range meets both those requirements. You’ll 

fi nd light, medium and heavy duty expansion joints in this section, classed according to the degree of protection 

the profi le offers the fl oor covering, the anticipated traffi c crossing the fl oor, and any point loading. 

The footfall or machinery anticipated to traverse the fl oor, traffi c is generally classed as light, medium or heavy 

duty. Any profi le can be used in light duty applications, and we recommended that Aluminium, Brass and 

Stainless Steel profi les are used in medium and heavy duty projects. 

Technical 

These intermediate expansion joints are classed as stress relieving control joints, and as such will accommodate 

expansion and contraction of approximately +/-1.5mm. They are in accordance with the relevant British 

Standards and Codes of Practice. For a more detailed specifi cation and technical information please call the 

Genesis technical department. 

A comprehensive range of Structural Joints have now been developed to further compliment the solutions

Preparation 

1. Existing wooden fl oors must be rigid, stable and capable of supporting additional load without 

fl exing and have suffi cient ventilation beneath them. 

2. Prior to laying Genesis G-Flex all loose boards should be secured with appropriate sized screws 

(not nails). This should be done by screwing at 300mm centres. If there is excessive fl exing or 

movement within the fl oor the addition of extra noggins may be required. 

3. Ensuring the fl oor is clean and free of dust, prime the fl oor using a diluted mix of a suitable 

Universal Bonding Agent and Sealer diluted 

4 parts water to one part U.B.A.S. 

4. Leave to dry prior to applying G-Flex. 

Using G-Flex on tongue and grooved wooden, chipboard or plywood fl oors. 

1. Follow Preparation steps 1 - 4. 

2. Lay G-Flex into place and where necessary cut to fi t using scissors or a suitable cutting knife. 

3. Remove the backing release paper and lay G-Flex into place ensuring good adhesion to the fl oor. 

4. Continue over the entire fl oor area fi xing subsequent sheets of G-Flex in a brick bond fashion. This 

ensures the maximum amount of strengthening characteristics over the fl oor area. 

5. A suitable rapid setting fl exible adhesive should be trowelled into the surface of the G-Flex 

ensuring the mesh cavities are completely fi lled; the surface should then be lightly combed prior 

to fi xing tiles. 

Using G-Flex in conjunction with Genesis Waterproof Tanking System 


2. Where applicable cut out the timber fl oor to install a shower deck and make connections for 

drainage. 

3. Place the G-Flex into position on the fl oor, removing the backing sheet for self-adhesive fi xing. 

4. Apply a thin, even layer of tile adhesive over the G-Flex to provide a fl at surface on which to lay 

the Genesis Waterproof Sealing Mat SWR. 

This will waterproof all sections of the timber fl oor. 

5. Use the Waterproof Joint Tape SWJ to seal joints in the Sealing Mat SWR and at the internal fl oor 

to wall joints. 

6. Apply the Genesis Waterproof Tanking Kit SWK600 to waterproof prior to tiling. 

7. Using a brush apply the fi rst coat of Genesis Waterproof Membrane SWK600 at internal 

corners, wall and fl oor junctions, and the joint between the shower deck and waterproof mat. 

8. Ensure all the Waterproof Tanking components are pressed fi rmly into position and allow to dry. 

9. Using a medium roller apply the fi rst coat of membrane to wall and fl oor. 

It is not necessary to coat the shower deck (only around the drain collar) as it is waterproof. 

Allow to dry. 

Apply the second coat of membrane over walls, fl oors and Wet room components to ensure a 

good seal is achieved. The optimum thickness of the membrane to be minimum 0.6mm for the 

two coats. 

10. Allow to dry for at least 2 hours before commencing tiling. 

Using G-Flex when fi xing tiles to timber fl oors incorporating electrical undertile heating 

systems. 


2. Spread a thin, even layer of a suitable rapidfl ex adhesive over the G-Flex ensuring the mesh 

cavities are fi lled leaving a fl at surface on which to lay the electric heating system. Allow adhesive 

to dry. 

3 Lay out the heating system mat and tape in position. 

4. Trowel the tile adhesive using a suitable Genesis trowel ensuring care is taken not to cut the wires 

in the electric heating mat when applying the adhesive. 

5. Allow a minimum of 7 days for the adhesive to dry out before switching on.

grout residue, apply Genesis silicone-based 

soft sealant to the corners. Protect tile 

edges with adhesive tape. 

Apply a second coat of HIDROFLEX 

liquid membrane onto the Genesis 

SWH gasket around pipes.

Apply cement-based adhesive 

using Genesis notched trowel. Fix 

tiles with tile adhesive. Tiles can

The Hidrofl ex System comprises the Hidrofl ex membrane and a range of accessories designed to work 

with the membrane to give a total waterproofi ng system for showers, bathrooms, wetrooms, saunas etc. 

When used together, Hidrofl ex and it’s accessories provide a sealing system that complies with even 

stringent Scandinavian wet room standards, some of the toughest in the world. 

Hidrofl ex Membrane 

Hidrofl ex is a ready-mixed, solvent-free paste based on synthetic resins in aqueous dispersion 

and aggregate of selected particle size. When dried, the product has very high elasticity, which it 

maintains from-20°C to+100°C. 

It is capable of withstanding any structural movement caused by temperature variations or vibrations 

and is excellent at withstanding the washing-out action of water. Since the paste is thixotropic, it is 

suitable for use on vertical surfaces. 

The product is type tested by the Swedish Testing and Research Institute SP (conforming to Per sector 

standards) and by the Finnish VTT Institute (Cert. No. C214/02). 

Suitable for waterproofi ng interior fl oors and walls. Typical applications include: 

• Waterproofi ng of substrates of various kinds (such as cementitious screeds, cementitious or 

gypsum-based plaster, gypsum board and wood panels, concrete) in bathrooms and showers 

before installing tiles. 

• Waterproofi ng of surfaces in kitchens or worktops prior to tile installation. 

• Anti-crack elastic membrane to be applied prior to tile installation to prevent cracks from 

propagating to the surface.

Our extensive range of skirting and capping profi les are specifi cally designed to 

complement a variety of fl oor fi nishes. Genesis skirting and capping products provide 

solutions where wall meets fl oor and are suitable for most applications from domestic 

to commercial. Special fi nishes can be produced simulating wood grain effects without 

any of the drawbacks inherent in some traditional materials. 

There are many benefi ts to using extruded non-timber derivatives. The high quality of 

fi nish is achieved through the technical development and production of printed cellular 

foam and polished anodised aluminium. What’s more, using our profi les enhances 

fi xing speed, signifi cantly reducing time spent on-site. 

A choice of fi xing systems is offered throughout the range allowing installers the choice 

between dry fi xing, silicone or adhesive. The Genesis skirting and decorative profi le 

range solves many of the problems found in modern installations, both around the 

offi ce and in the home.

The failure to provide adequate protection to edges and external corners can be seen 

everywhere. In both public and private buildings the appearance of the fi nished surface 

– and therefore the architect’s vision – is so often spoiled at these vulnerable points. 

Because of our very wide experience of different applications of our profi le system, we 

offer the services of our technical department free to anyone requiring advice on specifi c 

problems. P.V.C. tile edgings provide many benefi ts to the specifi er and the installer. 

They will protect the wall from impact damage on vulnerable corners. They also give a 

fi nished appearance to otherwise raw tile edges. 

Installers fi nd that they provide a true edge to work too, giving the installation a fi ne 

neat fi nish. They also appreciate the time savings edge protectors offer, making projects 

more economical. Stainless Steel profi les are able to withstand greater impacts than 

their P.V.C. counterparts. At the same time, they can also offer a very high quality of 

hygiene and fi nish. 

Due to the requirements of the latest hygiene regulations, the use of Stainless Steel 

profi les is recommended even in areas of low impact risk.

The Genesis Floorcare range is a complete care and maintenance system for ceramic 

tiles and natural stone. The products are all simple to use and have clear functions. 

The range is divided into Preparation and Cleaning and Sealing – and virtually all can 

be used both for interiors and exteriors.

Granite 

Sandstone is mined from rocky beds formed 

millions of years ago. The rocky slabs are then 

machine cut to size. Sandstone consists of sand 

bonded together with minerals such as silica, clay 

and iron oxides by mother nature. Some sandstone 

even contain fossils of plants. Sandstone has 

natural earthy appeal and is available in many 

colours (light creams to deep reds) and sizes. 

No two sandstone tiles are alike. Sandstone has 

excellent anti-slip properties making it suitable for 

use on patios and pool surrounds. 

Marble occurs when limestone which is 

sedimentary stone is re-crystallised due to extreme 

heat and pressure. The stone is mined from the 

earth in a similar manner to granite. Marble is 

mechanically polished to a high gloss but is also 

available in matt and in many different colours. 

Marble is relatively soft and needs to be protected 

from wear and tear as well as staining. Marble is 

extremely sensitive to acids and easily etched by 

common products such as cool drinks, lemon juice 

and vinegar. 

Travertine falls between limestone which is 

sedimentary and marble which is metamorphic. 

Travertine is characterised by vein like holes which 

are caused by hot springs travelling through it. Its 

manufacture and properties are similar to those of 

granite and marble. 

Porcelain tiles are manufactured from raw 

materials that do not differ much from that of 

vitreous china. The tiles are pressed dust mixed 

with colouring oxides in order to give them their 

colour. They are full bodied and have excellent 

mechanical and chemical properties. Porcelain 

tiles can come in various fi nishes, mostly natural, 

honed or polished. These processes give them their 

level of gloss. 

Limestone is generally speaking as relatively soft 

stone compared with say granite or even marble. 

As a result consideration should be given to wear 

prevention. Perhaps even more important when 

cleaning limestone is an understanding of the 

nature of the stone. Limestone is a calcium-based 

stone and as a result is very sensitive to acids, 

when choosing the best products for cleaning 

limestone, on no account use an acid product 

Granite comes from previous molten lava that 

made its way to just beneath the crust of the 

earth. The molten lava crystallized under pressure 

while it was cooling down over 750 million 

years ago. This granite that is now close to the 

surface is mined from the earth in large slabs. 

The granite is then cut to thinner slabs and then 

again to make tiles and counter tops and other 

decorative ornaments. The tiles and countertops 

are mechanically polished to give them their high 

gloss fi nish.

Grouts are porous and, as a result, they easily 

absorb grease, dirt and lime scale. Spillages such 

as wine, lemonades or greasy substances will cause 

marks and patches in the joints in the fl oor. Grout 

between wall-tiles, particularly in damp areas like 

bathrooms, will become dirty and unattractive as a 

result of mould, mildew and limescale. The answer 

is simple; protect the grout using a sealer. Sealing

Terms & Conditions 

Defi nitions 

In these Terms and Conditions the following expressions will have the following meanings unless 

inconsistent with the context: 

“Buyer” the person(s), fi rm or company whose order for the Goods is accepted by 

the Company 

“Company” Genesis APS International at Stokesley Business Park, Stokesley, North 

Yorkshire, TS9 5JZ 

“Contract” any contract between the Company and the Buyer for the sale and 

purchase of the Goods or supply of the Services formed in accordance with 

Condition 2 

“Delivery Point” the place where delivery of the Goods is agreed to take place 

“Goods” any Goods which the Company supplies to the Buyer (including any of 

them or any part of them) 

“Terms and Conditions” the standard terms and conditions of sale set out in this document 

together with any special terms agreed in writing between the Buyer and 

the Company 

Formation and Incorporation 

The Contract will be upon these Terms and Conditions, to the exclusion of all other terms and 

conditions and all previous oral or written representations including any terms or conditions which 

the Buyer purports to apply under any purchase order, confi rmation of order or similar document is 

referred to in the Contract. 

Each order or acceptance of a quotation for Goods will be deemed to be an offer by the Buyer 

and to purchase Goods upon these Terms and Conditions. The Contract is formed when the Buyer 

receives confi rmation that the order is accepted by the Company. No contract will come into 

existence until such confi rmation has been given by the Company. 

Quotations are subject to an acceptance period of 45 days from the date of quotation. 

The Buyer must ensure that the terms of its order are complete and accurate. 

Acceptance of delivery of the Goods will be deemed as conclusive evidence of the Buyer’s 

acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. 

The Buyer may not cancel the Contract. The Company may cancel the Contract at any time prior 

to delivery. 

Price and Payment 

The price for the Goods will be the price set out in the Company’s published price list current at the 

date of delivery or as otherwise notifi ed by the Company to the Buyer prior to the Contract being 

made. Orders are exclusive of any costs of carriage, packing, insurance and VAT unless otherwise 

agreed by the Company. A separate export price list may apply for Goods supplied for export from 

the United Kingdom. Where recommended selling prices are listed these should be treated as a 

guide. 

Where an order is received for quantities less than those quoted or where delivery is required in 

instalments smaller than those specifi ed in the quotation, then prices may be subject to increase. 

The Company may invoice the Buyer for the Goods on or at any time after dispatch. Subject to 

clause 3.3, payment of the price and VAT shall be due within 30 days of the invoice. Time for 

payment will be of the essence. 

The Company may accept payment on a pro-forma basis providing this arrangement is agreed in 

writing and signed by a director of the Company. 

No payment will be deemed to have been received until the Company has received cleared funds. 

All payments to be made by the Buyer under the Contract will be made in full without any setoff, 

restriction or condition and without any deduction for or on account of any counterclaim. 

No disputes that may arise under the Contract or delays beyond the reasonable control of the 

Company shall constitute a reason for interference with prompt payment in full by the Buyer. 

If any sum payable under the Contract is not paid when due then, without prejudice to the 

Company’s other rights under the Contract, the sum will bear interest from the due date until 

payment is made in full, both before and after any judgment, at 5 per cent per annum over the Bank 

of England base rate from time to time and the Company will be entitled to suspend deliveries of 

the Goods until the outstanding sum has been received. 

The Company reserves the right to recoup any sum, resulting from costs incurred legal proceedings 

to recover the sum payable under the Contract. 

Any invoice queries must be communicated to the Company within 10 working days of receipt of the 

invoice by the Buyer. 

Instalments 

The Company may deliver the Goods by separate instalments. Each instalment will be a separate 

Contract and no cancellation or termination of any one Contract relating to an instalment will 

entitled the Buyer to repudiate or cancel any other Contract or instalment unless otherwise notifi ed 

by the Company. Each separate instalment will be invoiced and paid for in accordance with the 

provisions of the Contract. 

Delivery 

The Company will use reasonable endeavours to deliver each of the Buyer’s orders for the Goods in 

accordance with the delivery estimate provided by the Company at the Delivery Point, but the time 

of delivery will not be of the essence. If, despite those endeavours, the Company is unable for any 

reason to fulfi l any delivery on a specifi ed date, the Company will be deemed not to be in breach 

of Contract, nor (for the avoidance of doubt) will the Company have any liability to the Buyer for 

direct, indirect or consequential loss howsoever caused (including as a result of negligence) by any 

delay or failure in delivery. 

Where the Goods are handed to a carrier for carriage to the Buyer or to UK port for export, any 

such carrier shall be deemed to be an agent of the Company and not the Buyer for the purposes of 

43, 44 and 45 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended). 

No liability will attach to the Company for non-delivery, loss or damage to Goods prior to delivery 

unless claims to that effect are notifi ed in writing by the Buyer to the Company within four days of 

delivery and where carriers not of the Company have been used for delivery a copy is delivered to 

said carrier. 

Where delivery is made by a carrier to the Buyer the Buyer is responsible for counting as received, 

complete or otherwise, the number of outer cartons of Goods documented by the carrier as being 

delivered. Any shortage should be notifi ed to the Company without delay. 

Subject to Condition 5.1, the Company will require the receipt of an order from a Buyer prior to 

12.30pm to deliver Goods the following day in the United Kingdom (excluding Northern Ireland). 

Minimum order value £175.00 free UK mainland delivery.

Risk/Title of Goods 

Risk of damage to or loss of the Goods will pass to the Buyer in accordance with Condition 5. 

Ownership of the Goods will not pass to the Buyer until the Company has received in full all sums 

due to it in respect of the Goods. 

Until ownership of the Goods has passed to the Buyer, the Buyer must: 

• hold the Goods on a fi duciary basis on behalf of the Company; 

• store the Goods (at no cost to the Company) separately from all other Goods of the Buyer or any 

3rd party in such a way they remain readily identifi able; 

• not destroy, deface, or obscure any identifying mark or packaging on or relating to the Goods; 

and 

• maintain the Goods in a satisfactory condition insured on the Company’s behalf for their 

full price against all risks to the reasonable satisfaction of the Company, and will whenever 

requested by the Company produce a copy of the policy of insurance. 

If the Buyer sells or disposes of the Goods to a third party before the sum due to the Company is 

paid in full then any proceeds resulting there from shall belong to the Company to the extent of the 

sums owing by the Buyer. 

Where the Company (or its appointed carrier) delivers the Goods, the risk shall pass to the 

Buyer upon delivery. In all other cases, the risk shall pass to the Buyer when the Goods leave the 

Company’s premises. 

The Buyer’s right to possession of the Goods will terminate immediately if any of the circumstances 

set out in Condition 9 occur. 

If payment is overdue in whole or in part the Company may (without prejudice to any of its other 

rights) recover or resell the Goods or any part thereof and may enter upon the Buyer’s premises by 

its servants or agents for the purpose. 

Nothing in this clause shall confer any right upon the Buyer to return the Goods sold hereunder or 

to refuse or delay payment therefore. 

Liability of Company 

The Company shall not be liable for any costs, claims, damages or expenses arising out of any 

tortious act or omission or breach of contract or statutory duty calculated by reference to profi ts, 

income, production accruals, or by reference to accrual of such costs, claims, damages or expenses 

on a time basis. 

The liability of the Company to the Buyer for any loss of whatsoever nature and howsoever caused 

shall be limited to and shall in no circumstances exceed the price of the Goods 

In no circumstances shall the Company be liable for any cost claim damage or expense resulting 

from any failure to use the Goods other than for the purpose for which they are supplied by the 

Company or resulting from any failure to follow any instructions issued by the Company in respect 

of the Goods. 

Each of the provisions of these Conditions of Sale (including each provision providing for the 

limitation or exclusion of liability) shall be deemed to be fully severable so that if any provision is 

found to be void in law, whether because it is found to be unreasonable or otherwise, the remainder 

of the provisions shall continue in full force. 

Intellectual property 

No right or licence is granted to the Buyer in respect of the Intellectual Property Rights of the 

Company, except the right to use, or re-sell the Goods in the Buyer’s ordinary course of business. 

The Buyer will not without the Company’s prior consent allow the Company’s marks or words 

applied to the Goods to be obliterated, obscured or omitted nor will he add any additional marks 

or words. 

Unless paid for in full, any display stand provided by the Company shall remain the property of the 

Company and will be given on loan or hire to the Buyer to enable effective merchandising of the 

Goods and it is the Buyer’s responsibility that only the Goods can be displayed or placed on the 

display stand in any event. 

The Buyer will not, without written consent of the Company, use, give away or loan any photographs 

or documents of confi dential records provided to the Buyer by the Company. 

Insolvency or Default of Buyer 

If the Buyer shall make default in, or commit any breach of, the Contract or of any other of 

his obligation to the Company or if any distress or execution shall be levied upon the Buyer’s 

properly or assets or if the Buyer shall make an offer to make any arrangement for composition 

with creditors or commit any act of bankruptcy or if any petition or receiving order in bankruptcy 

shall be presented or made against him or if the Buyer is a Limited Company and any resolution 

or petition to wind up such company’s business (other than for the purpose of amalgamation 

or reconstruction) shall be passed or presented or if a receiver of such company’s undertaking 

property or assets or any part thereof shall be appointed, the Company shall hove the right 

forthwith to determine any contract then subsisting and upon written notice of such determination 

being posted to the Buyer’s last known address any subsisting Contract shall be deemed to have 

been determined without prejudice to any claim or right the Company may otherwise make or 

exercise. 

Export Terms 

Where goods are supplied for export from the United Kingdom the following clauses shall (subject 

to any terms agreed in writing between the Company and the Buyer) apply notwithstanding any 

other provisions of these Conditions: 

• the Buyer shall be responsible for complying with any legislation or regulations governing the 

importation of the Goods into the country of destination and for the payment of duties on them 

• unless otherwise agreed in writing between the Company and the Buyer from the time of 

dispatch of the Goods from the Company’s premises the Goods shall be at risk of the Buyer 

and the Company shall be under no obligation to give notice under Section 32(3) of the Sale of 

Goods Act 1979 (as amended). 

Force Majeure 

The Company will not be liable to the Buyer for any failure or delay or for the consequence of any 

failure or delay in performance of the Contract, if it due to or beyond the reasonable control of the 

Company including, without limitation, acts of God, war, industrial disputes, protests, fi re, tempest, 

explosion, an act of terrorism and national emergencies and the Company will be entitled to a 

reasonable extension of time for performing such obligations in such circumstances. 

Legal 

Any dispute or difference between the parties arising out of the Contact shall fi rst be referred to 

mediation in accordance with the procedure of IDR Europe Limited and if the parties cannot agree 

on a mediator either of them may apply to IDR Europe Limited to appoint a mediator. If the parties 

fail to reach agreement on the dispute within 60 days of the appointment of the mediator the 

dispute may be referred to the Courts of England and Wales. 

The Contract shall in all respects be governed by English Law and shall be deemed to have been 

made in England and the Buyer and the Company agree (subject to the provisions of clause 34 

above) to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts. 

WEEE Collections Policy 

The B23 end user is responsible for all the liabilities regarding the environmentally sound disposal 

of the EEE when it becomes WEEE, the compliance statements are on the product packaging. 

The producer has paid no charge to its PCS (producer compliance scheme) for its eventual recovery. 

However the PCS’s disposal contractor is able to provide a cost effective and environmentally sound 

disposal of all 13 categories of WEEE.
