Come Holy Spirit
Angela Krol
“Today I would like to cry out to all of you...and to all Christians! Open yourselves
docilely to the gifts of the Spirit! Accept gracefully and obediently the charisms the
Spirit never ceases to bestow on us!” Pope John Paul II, Pentecost 1998
“Thanks to the Charismatic Movement, a multitude of
Christians, men and women, young people and adults
have rediscovered Pentecost as a living reality in their
daily lives. I hope that the spirituality of Pentecost
will spread in the Church as a renewed incentive to
prayer, holiness, communion and proclamation.”
(From the homily of John Paul II, Saturday, May 29,
2004)
Welcome to the John Paul II Catholic Charismatic
Bible School. A strong component of our school is
walking with the Holy Spirit and accepting and seek
ing the charismatic gifts. We are Catholic to the core,
The gifts of the spirit are the first
installments of the glory of God’s
pledge of what is to come; an eter
nity of glory living within the glory
of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
spending time daily in silent adoration of Jesus in the
holy Eucharist. Whenever we are blessed with a priest
we celebrate mass together. We pray the Liturgy of
the Hours each morning (previously known as the
Divine Office). We pray the Rosary and Divine
14
Mercy Chaplet daily as well as study scripture and dif
ferent aspects of the Catholic faith in our classes. We
work together, pray together, laugh together, struggle
and stretch together. But here at the school we also
praise God together enthusiastically each day. We pray
with and for each other in the Spirit. Our prayer times,
especially Thursday evening prayer meetings resound
with charismatic praise.
The Lord wants us, His children, to be His body
now on earth. He wants us to be equipped to serve
Him while never forgetting that the aim of Christian
life is to love God and love one another. “Make love
your aim, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts.” (1
Cor 14:1) There are many gifts of the spirit that Christ
wants us to accept and experience. The gifts of the
spirit are the first installment of the glory of God’s
pledge of what is to come; an eternity of glory living
within the glory of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same
Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same
Lord; there are different workings but the same God
who produces all of them in everyone.
