Horizon International Bilingual
School academic year consist of
two terms. The first term is from
September to January. while the
second term is from January to
June.
The teachers evaluate and assess
the students not only through midterm
and final, but also through
homework, mid-term projects they
assign throughout the term, quizzes
and tests during the term.
If the score of any subject is
50 or more, the student passes,
while below 50 is a failing score.
Thus, the total average of the overall
subjects is calculated and it
forms the student’s overall average.
If the overall score is 50 or more, the student has the right to pass
to the upper class. However, if the overall average is less than 50
the student is supposed to study the same grade.
The examination system of Horizon international Bilingual
School is similar to those in the universities. The schedules of the
exam dates and sitting charts are announced one week before the
exam week. In addition, the proctors, the teachers who watch the
classes during the exam time, are also announced and the lists are
posted on the bulletin boards in the teachers’ room.
The exam questions are typed on computer and then they are photocopied.
The exam papers are stored and reserved securely and
safely. All the exams are supposed to have two different sets, Set A
and Set B. Before the exam starts, the teacher who is to give the
exam is supposed to make the exam ready to give and submit it to
the administration on time. Exam attendance logs are included to
the exam papers and all the documents are given to the proctors
before hand.
All the students should put their bags in front of classroom
board near the teacher’s desk. It is not permitted to put any
material in or on the desk and cheating is strictly forbidden. The
proctor watches the students very carefully and there are two proctors
each class. In case of cheating or misbehavior, the exam paper
is taken and the student is sent out. The situation is reported to
administration and the student is punished by the discipline committee.
The rules that the student are
to obey:
1-Make sure that you are prepared
for the exam. Have your
pens, pencils, pencil sharpener,
easers.
2-You will not be allowed to
leave the exam room during the
exam.
3– You may be asked by the
invigilator to place a barrier
between you and the person
sitting beside you.
4-An exam is a race against
time, try to be fast but careful.

11-Keep silent during the exam.
5-Open your exam paper when
you are told to do .
6-Make sure you write your
name. surname, class, and school
number on the exam paper.
7-Keep the exam paper clean and
flat.
8-The proctor will not answer
any questions about the exam
once it has started.
9-If you have any difficulty with
the exam paper, raise your hand
and wait the wait for the invigilator
to respond.
10-Only equipment which is necessary
for the exam should be
kept on the desk.
12-Be careful that you mark multiple choice answers properly, Incorrect
entries may loose your marks.
13-If you have time when you finish the exam, check your answers.
14-If you have finished the exam in time, turn over the page and
wait. don't disturb others.
15– When the exam ends the proctor calls ‘Time is up, Pens down’.
Put your pen down immediately and wait until your paper is collected.
The teacher evaluate, the exam paper fairly and justly in a week’s
time. If the students who could not take exam during the exam
week have a medical report, they are given a chance of a make up
exam.
Our school has an advanced database system. All the mark-entry
applications are operated via the database. All the students and
parents have their user accounts. The teachers are able to enter
and see relevant scores via their individual accounts.
The database supervisor prints the draft scores than hands out
them to the teachers to check. The teachers check their scores
and, if any mistakes, correct them and then they submit them to
the supervisor. After this process, the report cards are printed. The
report cards include the lesson average, attendances , disciplinary
events and case and teacher’s comments. As well as the report
cards, students are giving statistical
and comparative information
which show their performance
about their lessons. The
students are able to see their
position in his class, grade and
school.
The students are given report
cards and thus they are presented
to parents .Sometimes they
are given to the parents at school
by class teachers.
In addition the overall scores of
each class, the overall of each
lesson, each class order in school
and the top students in the exams
are announced on the bulletin
boards.
