The Pension Protection Act of 2006 allows
assets from an Individual Retirement
Account to be directly transferred
to a qualified charitable organization
such as Saint Louis University. Some
specifics and benefits of the legislation:
irA charitable rollovers must be
made by Dec. 31, 2007.
Donors must be at least age 70½
at the time of transfer.
Up to $100,000 in 2007 may be excluded
from taxable income by the donor.
The rollover may be applied to the required
minimum distribution from the retirement account.
