Timely and accurate pipe line locang is a crical funcon that requires trained and operator qualified personnel. Through classroom presentaon, demonstraon and field applicaon the goal of this session will be to introduce the student to the locate and mark out process. It will touch on pipe locang theory, map and record review, pipe material locang characteriscs, marking procedures, grounding techniques, electronic locators and basic equipment operaon. Accurate pipe locang and mark out requires extensive hands‐ on pracce and pipe locang equipment, as well as experience interpreng each gas ulity’s mapping system. Natural gas related incidents are very rare at most gas companies. This session will discuss the proper acons to “MakeSafe” first and then discuss the steps to consider in order to conduct a detailed invesgaon. The “combuson chamber” will be used to demonstrate what happens during an explosion and some of the closed claims that AEGIS has been involved with will be used to demonstrate the need for a thorough invesgaon. 3:15 – 3:30 Aernoon Break 3:30 – 4:30 Incident Invesgaon ‐ Case Studies Tony Teo, Senior Ulity Consultant AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc. This session will examine actual gas ulity incidents, some caused by human error, and the lessons that can be learned from them.
