Goals • After their successful graduation, the graduates are awarded the degree “Dipl.-Ing der <strong>Architektur</strong>”/ Master of Science from the TU Vienna and a “Master of Architecture” diploma from Tongji University. Apart from enhancing intercultural skills, this program contributes to <strong>und</strong>erstanding the professional framework conditions and prepares the students for jobs with international orientation. In addition to the qualification goals of the Master studies, the students are to be given easier access to the Asian and European labor market. The double degree in combination with two years of practical work on site makes starting self-employed work in China easier. Study fees During their stay at the partner institutes, the participants must remain enrolled in the respective courses at their home universities and pay study fees there. The partner institutes do not charge any study fees (apart from fees for housing, if required). Language courses Within the framework of the Double Degree Program, the following language courses are offered: At TU Vienna: • Chinese for Austrian students • German for Chinese students At Tongji University in Shanghai • Chinese for Austrian students Internships Internships of several months in an architect’s office in Shanghai are envisaged. Internships in Vienna are being prepared. Application Students interested in the Double Degree Program need a Bachelor degree in Architecture or Urban Planning. Proof of good knowledge of English is desirable. • Austrian students who are interested in the program contact Ass Prof Dr Mladen Jadric. • Chinese students interested in the program contact Prof Dr Sun Tong Zu, Tongji University Shanghai.
Documents for application Applications by students are accepted only on paper by the Dean´s office (Dekanat) of the Faculty for Architecture and Planning until 1. March. • A complete application includes: • Informal application with letter describing motivation (350 words maximum) • Curriculum vitae with passport photo • Portfolio • All certificates Deadlines The application period for the Double Degree Program ends on 1. March for the next winter semester. Applicants who are not accepted but fulfill the preconditions for acceptance will be given priority for the next application. The studies begin with every winter semester (in China: September 2012).
