4-H Club.<br />

All clothing project members were recognized for<br />

their work in the designed clothing curriculum. The<br />

program has been expanded into eight themes –<br />

Creativity, Communication of Self, Fabric Knowledge,<br />

Clothing Selection, Consumerism, Care, Culture and<br />

Career.<br />

The <strong>Yakima</strong> <strong>County</strong> 4-H program wishes to thank<br />

the following business and people who assisted with,<br />

judged or donated for this event – The 4-H Clothing<br />

Textile Resource Leaders, LaDon and Sandra Linde, Phil<br />

and Robin Scott, Donna Devine, Double D Sport Cards<br />

Transportation, Lower Valley Leaders Council, America’s<br />

EXPRESSIVE ARTS CONTEST RESULTS<br />

Congratulations to all the 4-H members who<br />

participated in the Upper, Central and Lower Valley<br />

Expressive Arts Contests (poster contest) in February and<br />

March. All blue ribbon posters have gone on to the<br />

<strong>County</strong> Contest. We have some posters here in the<br />

Extension office ready to be picked up as soon as<br />

possible.<br />

TEEN NEWS<br />

2009 WA STATE 4-H TEEN CONFERENCE<br />

The 2009 Washington State Teen Conference will be<br />

held June 28-30 at the WSU Campus in Pullman. Youth<br />

who have completed grades 8 th<br />

-12 th<br />

are eligible. This<br />

program will feature fun, action-filled activities,<br />

educational workshops, national speakers, college/career<br />

information and recreation. Youth will be able to<br />

answer the questions they have about their future:<br />

education, options, career possibilities and development<br />

of life skills. The cost is $125.00 with scholarships<br />

available. Registration opens May 4. For questions or<br />

PROJECT NEWS<br />

4-H FOOD ACTIVITIES<br />

The <strong>Yakima</strong> <strong>County</strong> 4-H Food Activities will be held<br />

June 23, 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm. They will be held at the<br />

Sunnyside High School, Room 202 located at the corner<br />

of 16 th<br />

& Edison in Sunnyside.<br />

These activities are not only a great way for 4-H’ers<br />

to demonstrate knowledge and skills they have learned,<br />

but also the way to select the participants for the<br />

Washington State 4-H Fair in Puyallup in September.<br />

As a Food Project Leader, would you please share<br />

this information with your 4-H’ers. Register your 4-H’ers<br />

who want to participate by June 3. Obtain copies of the<br />

guidelines and worksheets as needed for your 4-H’ers.<br />

Each food activity has a worksheet to be filled out in<br />

advance and presented to the judge when they arrive for<br />

the activity. The guidelines, worksheets and registration<br />

forms are available on the 4-H website<br />
