Sub-subseries: Research Files
Organized under two headings, general research, and projects and grants. General research
contains documents concerning astronomical research, primarily planetary research, conducted at
NMSU; included is professional correspondence (primarily outgoing) of Bradford A. Smith and
other observatory staff members. The general research files are arranged alphabetically by
subject. Projects and grants contains primarily administrative files concerning projects proposed
and carried out by NMSU astronomers. In addition the Cloudcroft Seeing Study and the Near
Earth Satellite Search files include data collected during the studies. The majority of the projects
were conducted by Tombaugh, however projects by Bradford A. Smith and William L.
Reitmeyer are also found here. The projects and grants files are arranged alphabetically by
project title.
