A new, positive, psychology <strong>of</strong> infancy accepts that our<br />

minds are born for sharing interests, intentions <strong>and</strong><br />

feelings, by moving in sympathy -- in brain time.<br />

Human brains are motivated to express mind states as body<br />

movements, <strong>and</strong> to communicate in the rhythm <strong>of</strong> common<br />

sense, called intersubjectivity by psychologists.<br />

We communicate motives <strong>and</strong> sympathetic feelings from<br />

the beginning <strong>of</strong> life, making sense <strong>of</strong> mutual experience,<br />

with the affectionate attention <strong>of</strong> favourite companions.<br />

This sharing is the foundation <strong>of</strong> mental health,<br />

therapy <strong>and</strong> all learning <strong>and</strong> education, from birth.<br />

We must underst<strong>and</strong> it better, <strong>and</strong> respect it.<br />
