Lihue, Kauai, HI - 3/22/08 - Kaua`i Island Utility Cooperative announces that Dennis M. Esaki,
Teofilo Phil Tacbian and Peter Yukimura have been re-elected to KIUC’s Board of Directors.
The official results of the 2008 Board of Directors Election are as follows:
1. Peter Yukimura 3,933
2. Dennis M. Esaki 3,851
3. Teofilo Phil Tacbian 3,238
In this election, KIUC received 7,341 ballots. In the 2007 election, 7,191 ballots were returned.
KIUC Management and Omaha based Election Systems & Software, Inc., announced the official
tally this evening.
The elected board members will be inaugurated on Tuesday, March 25 in the KIUC Main
Conference room, located at 4463 Pahe`e Street in Lihue. Following the inauguration, the board
will hold its first meeting of the seventh Board of Directors at 1:30 p.m.
A director is one of nine elected representatives of the members of KIUC who collectively
constitute the Board of Directors. The board governs the business and affairs of KIUC and is
generally concerned with the broad courses of action to be followed by the utility and is not
involved in the day-to-day utility operations.
