Energy Star Refrigerator Rebate<br />

KIUC completed the State Energy­Efficient Appliance Rebate Program Energy Star Refrigerator<br />

Rebate as of March 7, 2011.<br />

KIUC issued 385 rebates at $250 per rebate. The program will result <strong>in</strong> annual energy sav<strong>in</strong>gs<br />

of 40,425 kilowatt­hours and life cycle sav<strong>in</strong>gs of 485,100 kWh <strong>in</strong> 12 years. With today’s rates at<br />

37 cents a kWh, that amounts to $14,957 annual sav<strong>in</strong>gs and $179,487 over 12 years.<br />

Kaua‘i’s greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced annually by 72,795 pounds of carbon dioxide,<br />

with a life cycle reduction of 873,543 pounds of CO 2 . Kaua‘i’s oil dependence also will be reduced<br />

by 2,746 barrels of No. 2 diesel per year and 32,958 barrels <strong>in</strong> 12 years.
