<strong>New</strong> Assistant to<br />

<strong>Dean</strong> Named<br />

In June, the <strong>Law</strong> <strong>School</strong> welcomed Jessica<br />

Brown as the new assistant to the dean<br />

and coordinator <strong>of</strong> special events.<br />

Prior to joining the law school, Brown<br />

worked at the Muskie <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> Public<br />

Service on a cross-disciplinary training<br />

project for childcare providers and social<br />

service workers.<br />

“Coming from a non-academic project<br />

within the <strong>University</strong>, it is a very exciting<br />

prospect for me to be surrounded by people<br />

who are so enthusiastic about learning. I<br />

look forward to working with the dean,<br />

faculty, students, and friends <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Law</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong> on a daily basis,” she said.<br />

Brown received her B.S. in<br />

Communications from Emerson College,<br />

where she was the editor-in-chief <strong>of</strong> the student<br />

newspaper, The Berkeley Beacon. She<br />

lives in Saco with her husband, Ge<strong>of</strong>f, and<br />

her 6-year-old son, Connor.<br />

Room on September 26. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Radin<br />

is a renowned expert in intellectual<br />

property and technology, electronic commerce<br />

and jurisprudence <strong>of</strong> cyberspace.<br />

Before delivering her evening lecture,<br />

Radin taught Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Tom Ward’s<br />

Intellectual Property class (pictured) and<br />

had lunch with the <strong>Law</strong> <strong>School</strong> faculty.<br />

On August 24, the eve <strong>of</strong> 1L orientation, the Alumni Association sponsored a<br />

reception for the incoming class at Ri Ra in Portland. The annual event, which was<br />

started last year, gives students a chance to meet and mingle with alumni/ae and<br />

each other before the start <strong>of</strong> their first academic year at <strong>Maine</strong> <strong>Law</strong>.<br />
