company has met its employees' higher cost of living needs

The increase in gas rates made by this company in 1S47 

and 1948 were the first in more than 25 years. Continued 

rites in operating costs have wiped out these increases andp in 

fact* the company^ gas department operated at a loss in i#4e.

ments we could make to our gas plants and equipment. Since 

194S the company has spent $2,107,000 to expand gas 

service. Another $4,051,000 will be required during the

year period,
