District Court Judge
NOVEMBER 7, 1978
NON-PARTISAN BALLOT
"Return to old-fashioned
respect for the law ...
I believe the District Court should be administered
with responsible and professional guidance. Those
persons who are tried in criminal matters should
be treated fairly but, if convicted, should be
punished.
The District Court was developed to be a court of
justice for everyone. I intend to give prompt attention
to citizen's actions, so that their claims may be
heard without delay."
MOVIE STARS? REAL PEOPLE AND ME, by Joshua
Logan (non-fiction). Producer-writer-director Joshua
Logan uses his formidable storytelling talents to turn the
spotlight on his own fascinating, star-studded life. With
charm and an unsparingly honest style, this great showman
gives us a front row seat to the past lid years of his
illustrious career, Jane Fonda, Vanessa Redgrave, Mel
Brooks, Marlon Brando...even President John F. Kennedythe
cast of characters in the Logan script is endless. And so
are the revealing profiles, the telling anecdotes and the
inside stories.
HEART FAILURES, by Ursula Perrin (fiction). A
delightful, moving novel about three women, friends since
childhood, who have loved the same man. When the man is
critically injured in an automobile accident that has killed
his young female companion, his ex-wife and his present
wife explore their past and present lives as friends to each
other, and lovers of the same man.
STORM: IRVING KRICK vs. the U.S. WEATHER
BUREAUCRACY (non-fiction). This compelling account
of a colorful maverick pits Irving Krick, meteorologist
responsible for developing long-range weather forecasting
techniques, against the bedeviling U.S. Weather Bureau,
which has persistently resisted and ridiculed Krick's
forecasts despite his remarkable (and enviable) results.
During WW II, while establishment forecasters said it
couldn't be done, Krick provided sound weather-wise dates
for such operations as the pivotal Leipxig bombings and the
Normandy invasion. And in forecasting in the years since,
Krick's organization has served such clients as citrus
growers, dam builders, farmers and film makers alike with
advance predictions and later, as a result of new cloudseeding
methods, with rainmaking weather to order.
