This is my home. This is
Hamburg!
• The people’s favourite: overnight stays in Hambug increased
by 6.6 percent to 9.5 million in 2011. 1
• Hamburg has the highest 10-year growth rate in Europe for
incoming tourists. 2
• Rivers, lakes and canals lend Hamburg a maritime flair.
• The region is characterised by a booming cruise industry
and around one million cruise passengers use our three
cruise ports every year. This is not far short of Southampton,
one of Europe’s most important cruise embarkation
points.
• Tradition meets modernity: the brick architecture of the old
warehouse district defines the historic skyline but the new
development of HafenCity brings a modern touch of glass.
• Hamburg’s newest landmark, the Elbe Philharmonic Hall,
combines tradition and modernity in one striking structure.
• Hamburg is hip and cosmopolitan, with youthful creative
music and design scenes.
• Hamburg rocks! This is where the Beatles first tasted success.
• Hamburg’s nightlife and lifestyle attract visitors from all over
the world.
