20 ThE MESSENgEr A new “first” for me in the year 2008 was the assembling of the HSBC’s newsletter, the Messenger. I must admit that I had not been looking forward to this endeavor even months before its initiation. Not having any real previous experience, I had allowed my mind to vastly blow out of proportion what this project would demand of me. Finally, with a great deal of enthusiastic encouragement from Pastor Innes, I jumped in head first. But I quickly found that this thing could only be managed with God’s help. So I paused to pray for the Lord’s grace to help in this time of great need. God reminded me as I was praying that His strength is sufficient and He would give grace to guide and direct me through the duties He has called me to do. “Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:” Jeremiah 32:17 The Lord immediately settled my heart, gave me the start I needed, and continued to lead every step of the way. With much help from Pastor Innes, Pastor Kelly, Bill Hughes and Willy Porchay the newsletter was completed. But what made the work light was the help from the Lord who showed me that if anything is going to be worth the time and effort it takes to achieve its end, then the He must be in it. The next Messenger newsletter is scheduled for mid-February. With God’s help and all of your interesting submissions, it should prove to be a great issue. Respectfully submitted, Stephen Crozier MuNCh aNd MiNglE Once again the Lord has been faithful to see us all through a busy, yet blessed year. As I reflect back on “2008” I’m reminded of the blessing this ministry offers to our church family, visitors and to those who come to minister to us. We continue to average 65 in attendance during our fellowship time. We have had a few Munch and Mingle nights when we’ve had as many as 100, praise the Lord! The evening of our Choir presentation we were blessed to have had one of our faithful servants plan and prepare an exquisite ham dinner. Thank you, Gloria Solete and helpers; we were all greatly blessed by your willingness to serve. Dinner was delicious! I would like to extend my thanks to all of you who have faithfully served the Lord by hosting; you are a great blessing to all who attend. Munch and Mingle continues to be a refreshing time of gathering together for fellowship. Remember anyone can host. Our church provides the supplies as well as help with the cost involved to purchase light refreshment. I have written instructions to guide you thorough the process. It’s not expected that you prepare a meal, although some do and it is appreciated by all, however cookies, punch, tea and coffee are fine too. If you would like to serve the Lord in this way and be a blessing to many please see me to sign up and host a Munch and Mingle. Thank you to all who served the Lord by hosting. MuSiC MiiNiSTry “I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.” Psalm 104:33 The adult choir of Hamilton Square faithfully met each week at 4:45 p.m. to practice music. Their love of music and for the Lord is evident in their heartwarming, evangelistic style of music performed for the church services.
