Instead <strong>of</strong> identifying students’ cognitive style on the field dependence dimension that is related to individuals’<br />
preferences in <strong>navigation</strong>, a 10-item <strong>navigation</strong> preference measure was adopted to directly identify participants’<br />
preferences for specific <strong>web</strong> <strong>navigation</strong> <strong>modes</strong> (Hsu, 2006). In this measure, there were 10 pairs <strong>of</strong> <strong>web</strong>sites (i.e., one<br />
pair per item) for students’ review. Each pair <strong>of</strong> <strong>web</strong>sites included both linear and nonlinear <strong>navigation</strong> material that<br />
