Peter Rosenblum<br />
Peter Rosenblum is the Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein Clinical Professor in Human Rights <strong>Law</strong><br />
at Columbia <strong>Law</strong> School <strong>and</strong> Faculty Co-Director of the Human Rights Institute. Much of Rosenblum’s<br />
current work focuses on the intersection of human rights with trade <strong>and</strong> investment regimes. He<br />
has served as a human rights officer with the Geneva-based precursor to the Office of the UN High<br />
Commissioner for Human Rights, a program director of the International Human Rights <strong>Law</strong> Group<br />
<strong>and</strong> a researcher for Human Rights Watch <strong>and</strong> the <strong>Law</strong>yers’ Committee for Human Rights. Prior to<br />
joining Columbia, Rosenblum was Associate Director of the Human Rights Program at Harvard <strong>Law</strong><br />
School. He holds an A.B. (Columbia), LL.M. (Columbia <strong>Law</strong> School), J.D. (Northwestern), <strong>and</strong> D.E.A.<br />
(University of Paris).<br />
Susan Maples<br />
Susan Maples is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Columbia <strong>Law</strong> School’s Human Rights Institute <strong>and</strong><br />
Legal Fellow at The Revenue Watch Institute. Her research consists primarily of comparative analysis<br />
of extractive industry contracts <strong>and</strong> legal regimes from a human rights-based perspective. Working<br />
with Columbia’s Earth Institute <strong>and</strong> the European Commission, Susan assisted the government of<br />
Liberia in its contract review <strong>and</strong> renegotiations. More recently, she was a member of The Carter<br />
Center’s team providing independent analysis <strong>and</strong> technical assistance to the Democratic Republic of<br />
Congo’s Ministry of Mines as it conducted a review <strong>and</strong> renegotiation of its mining contracts. Maples<br />
has conducted field research, training <strong>and</strong> project work in Azerbaijan, Cameroon, the Democratic<br />
Republic of Congo, Georgia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Peru <strong>and</strong> South Africa. She received a B.A. in<br />
Philosophy from the University of Georgia <strong>and</strong> a J.D. from Columbia <strong>Law</strong> School.<br />
