Since opening the admissions office in
Fairbanks, applications from Interior
and Rural Alaska increased more than
400 percent and continue to remain
high.
Applications received and processed for
the fall class of 2006 and spring class
of 2007 were the highest in the
Academy’s history.
For the most recent graduating class,
36 percent of applicants were from
Rural and Interior Alaska.
In the fall of 2006, and into the
spring of 2007, the Academy achieved
maximum use of the Academies capabilities
by selecting 250 cadets to attend each
class and having at least 210 cadets report
for in processing the first day of class.
Graduation metrics for the fall class of
2006 reflect 154 cadets graduated, while
the spring and fall classes of 2007 each
graduated 140 cadets. These graduation
rates represent the three largest graduating
classes ever in the 13 year history of
the Academy.
As of August 2007, the Academy has
graduated more than 2,505ChalleNGe
Cadets. National program metrics reflect
that more than 90 percent of the Alaska
Military Youth Academy ChalleNGe
graduates are leading productive, successful
lives more than a year after completing
the post residential phase.
The Academy’s main campus located
at Camp Carroll provides living facilities,
food service, academic classes, vocational
training, medical services and administrative
support 24 hours a day, seven days
a week for ChalleNGe Cadets. The Alaska
Military Youth Academy is accredited by
the Northwest Association of Accredited
Schools. The Academy is also an Alaska
Department of Labor and Workforce
Development testing site.
