The Club will be represented in the 2009 SSDT by Neil and Grant as usual, Mike McNiven having
a first ride and hopefully, from the reserve list, Wull Gillespie.
Perth & District, once again, held the annual team trial at Monzie in October and Dunfermline Club
were well represented by 4 teams. Winners of the event, yet again, was our Adult A team
comprising Neil Dawson, Wull Gillespie, Jim Tennant and Lee Tinney. In runner-up position was
our Adult B team of Grant Adamson, Stephen Baird, Bob Malloch & Grant Dempster. Our Over 40
team of Ian Shedden, Dougie Bald, Russell Whiteford and John Garrioch came 2 nd in their class.
Scarily, of the 16 teams entered, 9 were in the Over 40 class. Where are the young people? Well
done to everyone who took part and represented our Club.
The website continues to be a massive asset to the administration of the club and I’d like to thank
Stevo for his hard work in this respect. 7314 visits to the site this past year compares remarkably
with the 7026 of 2007.
In 2009 we plan to hold the New Year trial (held on 2/1/09), the Jimmy Adamson Memorial tuition
trial, 7 Club trials, an Adult Championship Round, and a Support Championship Round. Once
again, the Club seeks the assistance of all members in order that these events can be the success we
expect.
Treasurer’s report
Ann read out the report and explained the figures. The club continues with a healthy balance. Willie
noted that there was a much reduced postage cost due entirely to the reliance on the website for
membership forms, entry forms and results. Acceptance of the balance sheet as presented was
proposed by Willie Gillespie and seconded by Russell Whiteford. Ann stated that she had served as
Treasurer for 10 years and wished now, to resign. Willie thanked Ann for the fine job she had done
and this sentiment was echoed with a round of applause from the attendees.
Club subscriptions 2009
These have been retained at £10 for adults, £5 for schoolboys and free for non-competition licence
holders. Club trial entries will remain at £8 and £5 and £2 for “minders”.
The subject of payment to landowners was raised and it was agreed that the sum of money, per se,
would not influence farmers who offered the use of ground. All attendees were in agreement that it
was an interest in the sport or simple kindness which persuaded farmers to allow trials on their
ground. It was agreed that landowners should be paid at the rate of £2.00/rider with a minimum
amount paid where rider numbers were small.
2009 Trial dates
Refer to final paragraph, Secretary’s Report.
All dates can be found on our Trials Planner on the website. The permits for Club trial/dates will be
sent to the SACU office by Ann. In the meantime it was noted that Lanarkshire MCC had been
