Contiki & Diving\ One of Australia’s ‘must do’s’ is diving the Great Barrier Reef. If you’ve never dived before or if you’re more experienced – exploring this Reef is hard to beat. With 2 great dive packages there’s something for everyone. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest on the planet, a natural wonder of the world & a World Heritage site with 400 different types of coral & 1500 species of fi sh – so it’s pretty amazing. If you’re up for it you can even dive at night & see a whole different side of this amazing spot. Our diving experiences are not to be missed & are available with tours that start/fi nish in Cairns. It’s also unmatched for value - you’ll participate in up to 11 dives over 16 exclusive dive sites. Day 1: Cairns to the dive boat An early pickup (5:55am) this morning & it’s off to the dive boat & out to The Great Barrier Reef to start your adventure. The sites you’ll visit have been selected for their variety & quality of coral & marine life as well as great visibility. Boat (L,D) Day 2: Dive boat Today gives you the opportunity to explore this World Heritage listed underwater playground, but also to relax & really enjoy yourself diving & snorkeling. Back onboard, it’s good fun with your fellow divers, stories, shared experiences, great food & a spectacular sunset. Boat (B,L,D) Day 3: Dive boat There’s more diving or snorkeling in different areas of the reef today & later, return to Cairns in the late afternoon where there’s an included transfer back to your hotel. (B,L) Tour code CDTA. Learn to dive package 5 day learn to dive course The 5 day PADI ‘Open Water’ dive course is by far the most popular way to learn to dive. The adventure of learning to dive combined with staying out on the reef for 2 nights onboard a boat is really unique. The course takes you to 9 of the Great Barrier Reef’s best dive sites & features 2 days of classroom & in-pool training, then it’s onto the live aboard boat for some actual reef diving. There’s also plenty of time to snorkel, relax & just enjoy the reef experience too. Days 1-2: Cairns The fi rst 2 days of the course are spent at Pro Dive Cairns modern training centre learning the theory & practical skills of scuba diving. Each day fi nishes around 5:30pm. Resort (B) Days 3-4: Cairns to the dive boat The next 3 days & 2 nights are spent living onboard a premium dive vessel. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in 9 dives on a variety of our 16 exclusive dive sites on the outer Great Barrier Reef. Your fi rst 4 dives will complete your open water certifi cation & then as a certifi ed diver you are able to take up to 5 more recreational dives. One of these dives is a guided night dive! These extra dives will be a highlight of your course & a truly memorable experience. If you’re staying at an alternative hotel to Rydges Esplanade Resort prior to your dive trip, you’ll need to let Pro Dive know in order to arrange your transfer on day 1 (prodivecairns.com or 07 4031 5255). Safety dictates that you can’t fly or go to an altitude of 300m or over within 24 hours of your last dive (approx. 12:00noon). A 3 day snorkeling package is also available at a cost of A$549 plus A$50 EMC payable locally – see contiki.com.au/ snorkel.
