42.Elijah 4 Addison (Bridget <strong>Bradford</strong> 3 Wm 2 Nath 1 )<br />

Elijah 4 Addison married his first cousin Jemima 4 <strong>Bradford</strong> (Nath 3 Wm 2 Nath 1 ). Elizabeth (Parker) <strong>Bradford</strong>,<br />

the widow of Nathaniel 3 <strong>Bradford</strong> (Wm 2 Nath 1 ), named a Violetta Addison in her will (2 May 1763 – 31<br />

May 1763) and gave all her household goods “to be Equally Divided Between my Daughter Jemima and<br />

my Two grand Children Jemima and Violetta.” 13 Elijah named a daughter Violater (i.e., Violetta) in his will<br />

and had a daughter named Jemima Parker Addison and a son named Nathaniel.<br />

Elijah 4 and Jemima 4 (<strong>Bradford</strong>) Addison had issue: (Note: Though they are listed under Bridget 3 <strong>Bradford</strong>,<br />

Elijah and Jemima’s children have been assigned register numbers according to their descent from<br />

Jemima 4 .)<br />

+ 107. i. NATHAN 5 ADDISON. Donated the 5 acres on which the Margaret Academy was built:<br />

“for and in Consideration of the Benefit of Society and the Encouragement and<br />

Advancement of Learning.” 15 He left a will in Accomack (22 Aug 1788 – 30<br />

Dec 1788) naming his wife and children as well as godson Elijah Addison White<br />

and a legacy to Zipporah Twiford. Levin Joynes, Levin White and Robert<br />

Twiford were executors and witnesses were John Savage, Daniel Twiford and<br />

Caty Addison (probably his sister). 16 He married Elizabeth _____ and had issue:<br />

232. i. WILLIAM B[RADFORD?]. 6 ADDISON. May have died without issue,<br />

since his sister later ended up owner of his land. 17<br />

233. ii. BRIDGET 6 ADDISON. In the 1790s, married Zorobabel Kellam,<br />

who purchased land in <strong>Bradford</strong>’s Neck from Edmund 4<br />

<strong>Bradford</strong> (Thos 3 Wm 2 Nath 1 ) in 1786. 18<br />

108. ii. JEMIMA PARKER 5 ADDISON. Died before 2 Dec 1779, when Nathan Addison was<br />

granted administration of her estate with William Polk [husband of Sabra 5<br />

<strong>Bradford</strong> (Wm 4 Nath 3 Wm 2 Nath 1 )] and Reuben Joyne as security. 19<br />

+ 109. iii. VIOLETTA 5 ADDISON. Her grandmother Elizabeth (Parker) <strong>Bradford</strong> bequeathed her<br />

“all my Estate which is in her Father’s and Mother’s Custody” as well as a third<br />

portion of her household goods. 20 She married first ___ Outten, possibly<br />

Abram, 21 and second Eli Window, who died before 27 January 1774, when<br />

administration on his estate was granted to Elijah Addison (James Henry<br />

security), the widow Violetta Window refusing to qualify. 22 She left a will dated<br />

1793 in Accomack naming son John Purnal Outten; to John Addison White, son<br />

of Levin & Bridgett, she gave “my small piece of land that I call mine,” with<br />

reversion to Elijah Addison White. Her will was not witnessed, but was proved<br />

on 31 December 1793 by Ephraim Watson, William White & Betsy Parker. 23<br />

The will was contested by John Purnell Outten, heir at law, who was granted<br />

administration on her estate on 30 September 1793 with Levin Joynes as<br />

235. ii. possibly JOHN 6 WINDOW. Administration on his estate granted to<br />

Elijah Addison on 26 April 1774, Eli Window being deceased. 25<br />

+ 110. iv. BRIDGET 5 ADDISON. She married first William Welch, who left will 7 Mar 1781 –<br />

29 May 1781 naming sons William and Wally and friends Abram Outten and<br />

Ephraim Watson. 26 She married second Levin White, on whose estate<br />
