Dear Collectors
In this edition of the Stamp
Bulletin you will fi nd some
exciting products across two
of the main stamp issues to
be released in this half of
the year, but more about
that later. Let’s begin with
a look at the Colours of
Cocos (Keeling) Islands. The
stamps are presented in a
magnifi cent sheet of 20 and
show the depth of colour
in the plant and marine life
found in the area. The sheet
would look wonderful framed
up and ready to take pride of
place on any wall.
Moving further into
September, and the
beginnings of a return to
warmer weather in our
southern states, we see the
release of a stamp issue
aligned with some much
loved outside activity! For
many, golf is a favourite
pastime and of course,
to succeed in the sport
you need all the golfi ng
paraphernalia. The stamp
issue features some of the
common golfi ng implements
and we look at the history
of the sport in Australia. The
release of the issue will be
just in time as we get ready
to host the Presidents Cup.
This prestigious event will
attract huge crowds later
in the year as they try to
catch a glimpse of some of
the game’s champions from
around the world.
Our Stamp Collecting Month
stamp issue, as always,
features designs with
children in mind, as well as
for the young at heart. This
year’s subject is consistently
the most requested by
children when we undertake
our school visits during
Stamp Collecting Month
each October. Mythical
Creatures, through the
superb illustrations of
Alan Pocock, comprise the
characters mermaid, troll,
fairy, griffi n, unicorn, and
of course, dragon. Included
in the range is a special 3D
pack containing a minisheet
designed by applying a
number of different layers
giving it the 3D effect. The
pack includes a pair of 3D
glasses needed to view the
effect. This is just one of
the wide range of products
included in this issue, some
of which would be ideal to
give as a gift.
In October we release a
single stamp to mark CHOGM
2011. This is the third time
the Commonwealth Heads
of Government Meeting has
been held in Australia, with
previous meetings being
held in Melbourne (1981) and
Coolum (2002). HRH Queen
Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip
will attend the event.
Finally don’t forget to catch
up with the complete set
of Bush Babies postal and
numismatic covers, with
another due to be released
later this year to complete
the set.
Happy Collecting
