70TH BiRTHDAYS.
The inaugural trip to celebrate their 50th birthdays took place in 1992
and the group celebrated their 40th class reunion in “Sin City” in 2000.
In 2002, they blew out 60 candles in the desert, followed in 2006 with
another trip to celebrate their new membership in the Social Security
chapter of their lives.
Despite Carl Holtfrerich spending only one year with the Class of 1960
as a German foreign exchange student, he has stayed in contact with the
group over the years and holds the distinction of traveling the farthest
to participate in the most recent gathering. As one classmate joked,
“Southwest does not fly direct to Vegas from Berlin!”
The group was treated to a cocktail reception and dinner hosted by
Michael Gaughan, son of 1939 Prep graduate and Las Vegas legend
John “Jackie” Gaughan. Two rounds of golf and a party at classmate
Bob Greene’s home made for a non-stop, fun-filled trip.
