Belmont swim team begins season with a big win
Belmont Country Club
swimmers left a huge wake
in the pool after the dual
meet with Brandywine
Country Club. When Belmont
was finished, the score
was 473 to 122.
It was the first meet of the
season, and the relays were
ready to get off the blocks to
show how hard they had
been practicing.
Starting off the meet in
the 6 and under freestyle relays
were Amy Claypool, Valerie
Ward, Olivia Green and
Reece Hall as well as Grant
Croy, Tyler Foster, Nick
Becker and Troy Pisula,
both teams taking first place.
Relay wins continued for
the 8 and under medley relays
with Kate Harms, Elizabeth
Lathrop, Rachel Ward
and Elena Neceski as well as
Stevie Green, Justin Hire,
Darin Croy and Teddy Disalle.
Team members swam
backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly
and freestyle, respectively.
“This is my first year
coaching,” said Alex Kloster,
coach of the 7-8 year old
swimmers. “After a couple
weeks of practice it was exciting
to see how well each
swimmer did. There are
many new swimmers this
year, and I was happy to see
how they handled the pressure
as meets can sometimes
be overwhelming.”
Golfing for Graham’s Foundation
fund-raiser set for Sunday, July 14
Graham’s Foundation, a
non-profit organization offering
practical and emotional
support to parents of premature
infants and children, is
hosting its fifth annual golf
outing, Golfing for Graham's
Foundation, on Sunday, July
14, at Stone Ridge Golf Club
in Bowling Green.
This year, in addition to a
round of golf in a scramble
format, gifts and prizes, lunch
and happy hour, and a silent
auction, attendees will have a
chance to mingle with LPGA
hopeful Petra Cole.
“Golfing for Graham's
Foundation is more than just
a fund-raiser,” said Nick Hall,
who founded the organization
with his wife Jennifer in 2009
after experiencing the death
of his premature son, Graham,
and the four-month hospital
stay endured by
Graham’s twin, Reece. “One
of our most beloved support-
ers, golfer Petra Cole, will be
on the course again this year
demonstrating that prematurity–even
extreme prematurity
like my own family
endured–doesn’t have to define
the rest of your life.”
Ms. Cole, who was a 2013
KIA Classic pre-qualifier and
2011 California Women’s
Amateur Championship runner-up,
was born 12 weeks
early, and weighed only 1
pound 9 ounces at birth. She
endured many of the medical
and developmental struggles
preemies face, but went on to
succeed on the green. She
started playing golf at age 2
and hopes to someday compete
in the LPGA tour.
