The <strong>Department</strong> will also be submitting a <strong>FY</strong>10 Supplemental for completion <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>Department</strong>‘s Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS).<br />

Capital <strong>Budget</strong> Requests<br />

Johnson Youth Center Renovation to Meet Safety <strong>and</strong> Security Needs,<br />

Phase 1: $9,880.0 GF<br />

This request would fund the complete renovation <strong>of</strong> the existing detention unit, a new secure<br />

admissions area, <strong>and</strong> a new medical suite. The existing structure was built in the 1960s to serve<br />

as a women‘s prison. The existing layout is old, inefficient, unsafe, <strong>and</strong> unsuitable to serve as<br />

detention for youth.<br />

Pioneer Homes Deferred Maintenance, Renovation, Repair, <strong>and</strong> Equipment: $4,000.0 GF<br />

This request is for deferred maintenance <strong>and</strong> renovation projects for the state‘s six Pioneer<br />

Homes. The homes are located in Ketchikan, Sitka, Juneau, Anchorage, Palmer, <strong>and</strong> Fairbanks,<br />

<strong>and</strong> have a combined replacement value <strong>of</strong> $310.3 million.<br />

Non-Pioneer Homes Deferred Maintenance, Renovation, Repair, <strong>and</strong> Equipment:<br />

Total $3,020.0- $3,000.0 GF, 20.0 Fed<br />

This request is for deferred maintenance <strong>and</strong> renovation projects for the <strong>Department</strong>‘s 43<br />

facilities statewide, including youth facilities, public health centers, laboratories, <strong>and</strong> behavioral<br />

health buildings. The combined replacement value <strong>of</strong> these facilities is $343 million.<br />
