With targets ranging from horse-drawn chow. wagons <strong>to</strong> huge Maginot and Siegfried<br />

<strong>for</strong>ts and gun batteries, the 925th Field Artillery Battalion provided accurate, well coordinated<br />

artillery support <strong>for</strong> all of CT-9's combat operations in \Vorld \Var II. To them goes credit <strong>for</strong> firing<br />

the first round of heavy artillery <strong>for</strong> the 100th Division in combat at 1645 hours of Novemberl, 1944.<br />

During the attack on Lemberg, December 7th, they poured in the heaviest concentration<br />

of fire in their combat experience and succeeded in destroying two strategically placed flak-wagons,<br />

which enabled the infantry <strong>to</strong> crash in<strong>to</strong> <strong>to</strong>wn.<br />

Throughout the winter their firepower helped contain the New Year's Day counter­<br />

attack, aided the numerous infantry patrols and softened the enemy positions prepara<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>to</strong><br />

the Spring Offensive. Again at lIeillJronn, the counter-hattery fire against the 88's that rained dow;}<br />

on<strong>to</strong> the 399th Neckar HiHr bridgehead from the commanding ridges played a large part in the<br />

rail of that key bastion.<br />
