USA: Elementary school children in<br />

Frederick , Maryland (USA), won the<br />

“<strong>Henkel</strong> Helps – Get Kids Fit” contest in<br />

2011. Their video project prevailed over<br />

nine competitors in online voting. The<br />

school will be using the prize money to<br />

install a track, to encourage pupils to be<br />

more active athletically.<br />

Nepal: Danielle Fleurackers from Belgium<br />

support s a house for street children in<br />

Kathmandu, Nepal – Shangrila Home. The<br />

project began in 1995, and it now gives 79<br />

street children a new home, as well as an<br />

opportunity to lead a well-ordered life and<br />

to go to school.<br />

Marocco: Pascale Lefèvre helps the nonprofi<br />

t organization “Sefrou” in her free<br />

time. Its goal is to collect donations in<br />

order to help people in isolated regions of<br />

Morocco. The organization supports a<br />

children’s home with the donations, for<br />

example.<br />

Bangladesch: <strong>Henkel</strong> retiree Rita Fritzsche<br />

works as a volunteer at the Lichtbrücke in<br />

Engelskirchen. The support for her MIT project<br />

made it possible for the organization to<br />

provide school materials for approximately<br />

300 preschool children in Khagrachari,<br />

Bangladesh.<br />

Germany: Frank Kleinwächter is active in<br />

the “Flying Fish” youth group of the “Petri<br />

Heil” fi shing club in Düsseldorf. He is very<br />

interested in getting young people to<br />

understand the importance of nature and<br />

water conservation. In 2011, <strong>Henkel</strong> helped<br />

the club to renature the north-east shore of<br />

its lake.<br />

Serbia: The Mrvica Nursery School in Novi<br />

Sad, Serbia, has 14 groups with 25 children<br />

each. A little extra help is always welcome.<br />

Dragana Markovic, a <strong>Henkel</strong> employee in<br />

Serbia, volunteers at the Nursery School in<br />

her free time. With fi nancial support from<br />

<strong>Henkel</strong>, she has also been able to arrange<br />

for new equipment for the playground.<br />

India: <strong>Henkel</strong> employee Dr. Reimar Heucher<br />

supports the Indo-German Help for<br />

Children (IGHC) organization and its projects<br />

in his free time. Following the tsunami in<br />

2004, it built a vocational training school in<br />

Ranganathapuram with <strong>Henkel</strong>’s help, thus<br />

enabling children to obtain this education.<br />
