The <strong>Berrien</strong> <strong>County</strong> Public Administrator is appointed by the Governor of the State<br />
of Michigan to take charge of all matters pertaining to lands and/or personal property<br />
subject to escheat or escheatable by reason of the owner thereof having died intestate<br />
leaving no known heirs at law; or by reason of the owner thereof having disappeared<br />
or being missed from his last-known place of residence for a continuous period of<br />
seven years or more, leaving no known heirs; or by reason of the owner thereof having<br />
abandoned such property, i.e. money abandoned in savings or checking accounts<br />
or deposits abandoned with utility companies. The <strong>County</strong> Public Administrator may<br />
probate matters only within the county in which he resides. His functions and duties<br />
are governed by the Probate Act and Court Rules and proceedings are filed in the<br />
<strong>Berrien</strong> <strong>County</strong> Probate Court, <strong>Berrien</strong> <strong>County</strong> Courthouse, St. Joseph, Michigan. The<br />
duly authorized and appointed Public Administrator for <strong>Berrien</strong> <strong>County</strong>, Michigan is:<br />
