PALACE ELECTRIC ANIMATOGRAPH... Selwyn Conjuror and Expert Card Manipulator", printed by The Swift Printing Co., Sydney, black text with green surround, linen-backed, size 38x101cm. Condition B. [Selwyn was born in Massachusetts in 1878 and first performed as a magician in England at age nine. He toured the world with major companies including Dr. Bigelow's Medicine Show and Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. After being wounded in the Boer War he toured Asia and arrived in Australia in 1907. He fought with the Tasmanian Battalion in WW1 and was wounded at Gallipoli. In 1940 he retired to his home on Cribb Island in Queensland with his wife Belle and passed away in 1950. He had an encyclopaedic knowledge of all forms of magic and many famous magicians turned to him for advice].
