[Selwyn was born in Massachusetts in 1878 and first performed as a magician in England at age nine. He toured the world with<br />

major companies including Dr. Bigelow's Medicine Show and Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. After being wounded in the Boer<br />

War he toured Asia and arrived in Australia in 1907. He fought with the Tasmanian Battalion in WW1 and was wounded at<br />

Gallipoli. In 1940 he retired to his home on Cribb Island in Queensland with his wife Belle and passed away in 1950. He had an<br />

encyclopaedic knowledge of all forms of magic and many famous magicians turned to him for advice]. (Photo) ........... $500 - $600<br />
