25TH ANNIVERSARY Captain M .M . Adamse Accompanied by his wife and two children, Captain
Adamse (on Home Leave) came on board Tjiluwah on
6th December at Sydney to celebrate his twenty-fifth
Service Anniversary, which fell due just two days before.
His close relatives, colleagues from other vessels, and
senior Sydney office staff were also present.

The weather in Hong Kong on 5th
January was cold and grey, but inside
the messroom of Straat van
Diemen the atmosphere was warm
and friendly during the celebration
of Captain Haringsma's 25th service
anniversary. Visiting shore staff, as
well as officers and wives from
Nieuw Holland. Tjiwangi, Tjibantjet
and Straat Towa all enjoyed the
ship's hospitality.
In his address, MrTerwogt mentioned
how very quickly the Captain had
made promotion in the earlier stages
of his career after joining the KPM
in December, 1946; he had had to
wait longer before being promoted
to Captain in 1963, and had entered
the RI L fold following t he final merger
