Meningococcal disease has become a public
health concern since 1996 when we
experienced a steady increase in the
incidence of the disease. From an incidence
of 0.8 per 100,000 cases in 1994, the
incidence reached 8.1 per 100,00 in year
2000 and dropped to 4.4 per 100,000 in year
2003.
