Your AAB is expanding
support for the ESM
department, students,
and alumni. A key
activity in fall 2008 was to promote
awareness of ESM’s premier honors
program (Engineering Science,
E SC) among companies who may
hire our graduates. Mike House’s
crew canvassed recruiters at the
career fair armed with a newly
produced ‘profiler’ that was very well
received. Please download a copy

help us to publicize ESM to your
company and prospective students.
Speaking of recruiting, Barb Faust
is busy establishing a network of
ambassadors to work with selected
top high schools and teachers to
promote the E SC major among
their best students.
Our engagement is paying off. This
year the E SC major has reached
39 junior and 42 senior and supersenior
students. Keep up the
good work!
Watch out for special Engineering
Science and Mechanics alumni
activities that will be developed in
conjunction with a regional meeting,
April 25 (the Blue/White game),
and alumni reunion weekend,
June 4-7, 2009. Also, save the date,
Oct. 17, for the fall 2009 homecoming
tailgate. This year’s event
attracted over 100 participants — we
are seeing a tradition in the making!
Connecting ESM Students With Recruiters
The AAB Placement Committee will host a recruiting social mixer for
ESM students coinciding with the College of Engineering’s Spring Career
Fair in February 2009. Recruiters planning to participate are National
Instruments, Dresser-Rand, Northrop Grumman, KAPL, Bettis, Belcan,
and Schlumberger.
