fies gratitude to Allah for His renewed favors, <strong>and</strong> for the new<br />
comer.<br />
* It is preferable to slaughter a camel, a cow, or a sheep for the<br />
occasion. It is also preferable that the <strong>of</strong>fered animal be fat <strong>and</strong><br />
most expensive, for Allah says:<br />
﴾ِﺏﻮﹸﻠﹸﻘﹾﻟﺍ<br />
ﻯﻮﹾﻘﺗ ﻦِﻣ ﺎﻬﻧِﺈﹶﻓ ِﻪﱠﻠﻟﺍ ﺮِﺋﺎﻌﺷ ﻢﱢﻈﻌﻳ ﻦﻣﻭ﴿<br />
“And whoever honors the rites <strong>of</strong> Allah, (such honoring)<br />
reflects the righteousness <strong>of</strong> hearts.” [Surah (22):32]<br />
* It is the Sunnah that the guardian himself slaughters the<br />
Aqiqah. If unable, someone else may slaughter it for him. <strong>The</strong><br />
butcher must not be given a portion <strong>of</strong> the meat for fee.
