Akron's industrial strength is embraced in its 168 manufacturlng<br />

plants having an aggregate capltallzation of about<br />

$200,000,000, and employing about 67,000 persons, wlth en<br />

est~~iiated payroll for <strong>1917</strong> of al~out $48,000,000. The payroll<br />

of lliese fnclories fol 1916 was over $40,000,000 and thc value<br />

of their manufactured products totaled $226,600,000<br />

The builtll~ig perinits issi~ed by the c~ty durlng 1916 .Iggregaled<br />

$12,777,036 in estlinated cost of new buildings, and<br />

$8,318,395 for the first SIX n~onths of <strong>1917</strong> Tlierc were 2,821<br />

new l~ouses bullt tlur~ag 1916. The clearings of Akron's<br />

bank\ totalecl $207,484,000 for 1916, and the deposits in the<br />

Akron banks in June, J917, aggregated $44,194,000 The<br />

recelpts of the Akron poitotlice for 1916 amounted to<br />

$773,576 and for the first six months of <strong>1917</strong>, $463.976.<br />
