Stena MAX-concept for operation in the Baltic Sea Protection all over The B-MAX is thoroughly protected against corrosion for extended fatigue life. The ballast, cargo, fuel oil and contaminated water have ballast tanks or void space between their boundaries and the hull. FUEL TANKS Doubled pro-active safety All the systems for propulsion and manoeuvring – engines, shafts, generators, steering gear, rudders, propellers and control systems – are doubled and function independently. A fireproof and watertight bulkhead separates the engines. The B-MAX is certified to DNV RPS (Reduntant Propulsion Separate). Additional precaution As an extra precaution, the fuel tanks are centrally located, protected by the separate engine rooms. For increased safety and thus minimizing the risk of oil spill, the hopper tanks are larger than in a conventional large tanker.
