Air your dirty laundry campaign
skills course presented by FAMSA and Soul City, as
well as a course on women and children’s health. We
continued with our arts and crafts project and residents
were given the opportunity to sell their beading products
at a market.
We continue to sustain relationships we formed
with various governmental and non-governmental
organisations, businesses and churches. We are working
closely with Child Welfare, which is beneficial to us,
especially with regards to following-up residents when
they leave the residential programme. We are also
networking with staff from the Thuthuzela Care Centre.

SucceSS Story
Our first resident has secured a permanent job as a
merchandiser for chain stores and has found a place to
stay for herself and her four children – away from the
abusive partner.
2011 Annual Review
On Women’s Day, all
residents were invited
to an event organised by
FAMSA. During the 16
Day of Activism, we held
our first Air your dirty
laundry campaign, which
was a huge success.
Children from a primary
school in the area were
invited to participate in
the event. The children
found it empowering to
paint anti-abuse messages
on T-shirts. Churches and
the local radio station continue to invite us to do talks.
