ENGINEERED WOOD PRODUCTS<br />

Preservative penetration <strong>of</strong> all sapwood Glulam laminates before fabrication is required as well as 5<br />

mm from <strong>the</strong> face or edge <strong>of</strong> non-termite resistant<br />

heartwood laminates, when <strong>the</strong> lesser crosssection<br />

dimension is 35<br />

mm. Unpenetrated heartwood is permitted with<br />

some restrictions on its distribution within individual<br />

laminates.<br />

Where <strong>the</strong> Glulam is <strong>treated</strong> after fabrication <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>preservative</strong> must penetrate all exposed sapwood<br />

(i.e. sapwood on adjacent exposed surfaces <strong>and</strong><br />

not enclosed by heartwood) <strong>and</strong>, if termite resistant<br />

heartwood is present, all unexposed sapwood<br />

within 5 mm <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> faces or edges (8 mm if <strong>the</strong><br />

cross-section is >35 mm), or it can remain<br />

un<strong>treated</strong> if it comprises 35 mm).<br />

Unpenetrated heartwood <strong>and</strong> unpenetrated unexposed sapwood is allowed if, <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r, <strong>the</strong>y comprise<br />
