MELBOURNE
The campus is situated on 130
subtropical acres in Melbourne,
Fla. (population 76,000), close to a
shopping mall, a historic downtown
main street and the Atlantic Ocean.
Hundreds of nearby high-tech
companies offer students access
to post-graduate employment
and practical training experiences
(OPT), internships and cooperative
learning opportunities.
CAMpUs
Highlights of the campus include
new, state-of-the-art facilities
including a health-fitness center,
teaching and research laboratories,
residence halls and the largest
research telescope in Florida.
Modern flight training facilities
of the College of Aeronautics are
located nearby at Melbourne
International Airport.
CLIMATE
Days are generally warm and
sunny; it can be humid in the
summer. Temperatures range
from 50°F/10°C to 73°F/23°C
December through February, and
from 72°F/22°C to 91°F/33°C July
through September. The average
daily temperature is 76°F/24°C.
pROxIMITy
Florida Tech is 10 minutes from the Melbourne
International Airport, Melbourne Beach and the I-95
interstate highway. Kennedy Space Center is 45 minutes
north and Orlando area tourist attractions (such as
Disney, Universal Studios and Sea World) are an hour to
the west. Miami is 270 km, about 3 hours, due south.
