PROBABLE CAUSE<br />

2. If on pulling back handle I Weak or broken<br />

<strong>the</strong>re is little or no resistance, mainspring.<br />

if main spring is lig ht, tighten;<br />

if broken, change.<br />

3. If an empty case is in chamber<br />

or ejection opening, take<br />

<strong>of</strong>f magazine, draw back c harging<br />

ha ndle, and unload witho<br />

ut firing.<br />

Lf empty case is in chamber,<br />

force out with cleaning rod<br />

from muzzle end.<br />

If <strong>the</strong>re are no signs <strong>of</strong> extractors,<br />

or only one extractor<br />

gripping it , change bolt;<br />

o<strong>the</strong>rwise continue firing .<br />

4. If stoppage recurs, examine<br />

extractor, exchange whichever<br />

is faulty .<br />

5. If charging handle cannot<br />

be moved, remove magazine.<br />

lf charging handle Aies f o rward,<br />

change magazine.<br />

6. If on· removing magazine,<br />

charging handle remains in<br />

position as before-<br />

(a) Help cartridge into corre ct<br />

position on feed way.<br />

(b) Test cartridge g uide spring.<br />

(c) Test mainspring.<br />

(a) Bad extractors.<br />

(b) Hard extractio n.<br />

(c) If empty case is<br />

in receiver, weak<br />

extractors or<br />

broken ejector.<br />

(a) Damaged magazine<br />

jammed.<br />

(b) Magaz ine not<br />

properly on magazine<br />

post.<br />

(c) Broken maga ­<br />

zine catch spring.<br />

(d) Broken or damaged<br />

magazine<br />

spacer ring causing<br />

it to jam.<br />

(a) Weak or broken<br />

(b) Too weak mainspring.<br />
