Cindy is an artist who has emerged from Utopia. She comes from a family of distinguished artists; her
mother is Gracie Morton Pwerle, her aunt is Kathleen Petyarre and her great-aunt is Gloria Petyarre.
Cindy has developed her art alongside her mother and family but is finding her own unique style of
painting.
Room 5219 Title: Kangaroo Tracks
Cindy has painted sand torn by multiple Kangaroo tracks. She also depicts the topographical landscape
and bush seeds from her country.
Room 5206 Title: Bush Plum
The Bush Plum is found throughout the Utopia region. It fruits in the summer after rain and is an
important food source. When young, the fruit is green in appearance but as it matures it becomes a
purple-black colour, similar to an olive. The plant can grow up to three metres high, has blue green
leaves and it produces a creamy white flower. In the Dreamtime winds blew from all directions
carrying the Bush Plum seeds to Cindy’s ancestral lands.
