A competition in recent traditional forms of folk<br />

music such as vals, reinlender and polka. Own<br />

classes for different kind of groups and solo artist.<br />

About 500 musicians participate every year in this<br />

festival which is arranged in various places<br />

in <strong>Norway</strong>. In 2011 the festival will be arranged<br />

in Oppdal, South-Trøndelag county.<br />

Norwegian Traditional<br />

Music and Dance Competition<br />

A nearly 100 year old competition presents the<br />

oldest forms of fiddling, singing and dancing in<br />

<strong>Norway</strong>. In addition to the competitions there are<br />

also concerts arranged. The competition is divided<br />

into different classes dependent on the number of<br />

members in the groups, both amateurs and<br />

professionals compete. For both folk musicians<br />

and folk dancers. About 1500 participants. The<br />

2011 festival will be held in Seljord, Telemark.<br />

Riddu Riddu Festival<br />

20.07. - 24.07. 2011<br />

Riddu Riddu is an international indigenous festival<br />

set in the North of <strong>Norway</strong>, Kåfjord/Manndalen.<br />

The program encompasses music,stage art,<br />

litterature, art exhibitions, childrens program,<br />

Northen People program,Indigenous Youth<br />

Gathering, courses,indigenous houses and much<br />

more. Riddu Riddu celebrates 20 year anniversary<br />

in 2011.<br />

The annual Telemark International Folk Music<br />

Festival presents folk music from various parts<br />

of the world. On a solid base of Nordic and<br />

Norwegian folk traditions, the festival creates an<br />

enjoyable and intimate atmosphere. The festival<br />

has become an important arena for the renewing<br />

of folk music.<br />

Hamar Music Festival<br />

HMF - always a various program, about 30<br />

concerts. All the concerts are within 5 min. walk<br />

from the festival area. Hamar is a small city, 120<br />

km north of Oslo, or 50 min. by car from the Oslo<br />

Gardermoen Airport (OSL). Placed by the biggest<br />

lake in <strong>Norway</strong> - Mjøsa.<br />

Kongsberg Jazzfestival<br />

The program of Kongsberg Jazz Festival has a<br />

strong focus on contemporary jazz and innovative<br />

sound, and is generally regarded as one of<br />

Scandinavia’s most innovative jazz festivals,<br />

presenting a mix of internationally acclaimed<br />

artists and some of the finest Norwegian artists.<br />

The festival motto is to give the audience both<br />

what they have longed to hear – and what they<br />

didn’t know they would love to hear.<br />
