Sian McClarence, GMB Regional officer, said "In the first talks yesterday since January ISS
refused to negotiate in any way and showed no interest or willingness to avert a strike. ISS
adopted exactly the same position they have throughout of refusing to negotiate on any
point at all.
They were clearly 'going through the motions' and are more interested in bussing strike
breakers 400 miles from Leuchars in Scotland with the offer of 3 days pay than in meaningful
talks to resolve a situation of their own making.
Mike McCartney, Unite National officer said " The irony of offering RAF staff £15 an hour to
cover ISS staff paid less than half that amount and who are in dispute over an 8p pay offer
suggests a naivety bordering on the stupid.
ISS seem more intent on strike breaking than dispute resolution. GMB and Unite are calling
for the Minister of State for the Armed Forces Andrew Robathan, the MP for South
Leicestershire to intervene."
